Let’s strengthen those muscles for better posture! After doing a self check of your posture plumb line (see previous post to learn more about this) let’s fix the areas of complaint! Forward head carriage = strengthen back of neck with chin tucks ... Rounded shoulders = strengthen upper back and stretch the pec muscles at the front Forward or backward hips = practice tilting your hips forwards or backwards to find a middle ground. Strengthen your bum to help maintain good posture for your pelvis and back. Stretch the hip flexors. Bad pregnancy posture causing you pain perhaps? Let’s check ourselves out! (This can be done if you’re not pregnant also) How we can measure our posture is with the posture plumb line. The posture plumb line is an imaginary straight line from the top of the head to the floor. Perfect posture means our ears, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles stack up along this line. However, healthy posture and perfect posture are two different things. Many factors contribute to posture in...cluding pregnancy which will change our posture. Posture doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be healthy. We want to use the plumb line as a reference for how forward or backwards parts of our body are and try to make a conscious effort to maintain a good posture.
