What’s wrong with a green thumb or sweet tooth? Usually, it is not one tooth but the whole lot of sweet teeth If you have sweet teeth, you are probably worried about cavities and you are totally right! The bacteria in your mouth metabolize sugar as an energy source. When oral bacteria consume sugar, they produce acid that causes erosions on the surface of your teeth, which makes them more susceptible to decay, loss of enamel, and cavities. We can outsmart nasty bacteria by ...following some simple and practical tips: drink plenty of water- it will dissolve the sugars and will wash them away. Brush very frequently, but wait 30 minutes after eating- it will help with enamel loss. Enamel is a bit dissolved with acids, so the waiting period helps prevent weakening by the acid. Snack on cheese, celery sticks, apples. Crunchy food mechanically cleans your teeth. Remember, that sugars are added to the processed food, bread, even ketchup. Sauces, jams, and condiments are often sources of hidden sugar. Do not buy trendy sugars: agave syrups etc. Avoid long-lasting, chewy, sticky desserts and candies. They prolong contact with the acid. Remember about frequent flossing. The floss can help to remove these corrosive acids from the spaces between your teeth. Lastly-remember to book a hygienic appointment. For adults with inflammation of the gums recommended intervals are 3-4 months. For adolescents book an appointment every 6 months. There is nothing sweet about having decay and pain-so eat desserts responsibly! See more

DO NOT TREAT THE DENTIST VISIT LIKE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. You don't call the fire department until the house is on fire. You don't call for an appointment until you are in pain...Why waiting for the pain and problems is a very bad idea? First reason: Dental disease starts small. We can easily find and fix tiny problems before they get serious enough to bother you. But if you only see the dentist when you've got trouble, you'll let yourself in for a lot of big complicated repai...r jobs or even into losing your tooth/teeth. Your dentist and hygienist, who know your mouth can tell you how often you should come for a check-up, will give you honest feedback on how good you are at home toothbrushing and flossing, and will point the areas for improvement. Second reason: after a day or two, the soft plaque in your mouth develops and produces acids, which are dissolving the tooth enamel. After some time this crust hardens and forms the calculus. Calculus inflames and irritates your gums, you may notice bleeding upon brushing. Calculus cannot be removed by simple brushing and flossing. Only using professional equipment can get calculus off your teeth. Hygiene appointments done regularly are critical in maintaining your dental and overall health. Third reason: Nobody likes to pay large bills-but, where dental health is concerned, the cost is largely in your hands. A basic preventative visit is fairly inexpensive compared to emergency treatments. So if you treat your dentition seriously: brush well, floss every day, and see your dentist for a check-up and cleaning-you'll significantly reduce the chance of needing an expensive, uncomfortable procedure. Be smart about your choices-schedule an appointment to avoid "fires of inflammation and diseases". See more

Do you KOGINUT:) Heirloom Koginut squash -another fall beauty, full of nutty flavour with a hint of vanilla and citrus. Pairs well with meats, poultry and fish, herbs, nuts, rice and quinoa. You can add it to soups, stews and curries or simply roast, as I did yesterday. Cut in halves or quarters, remove seeds, drizzle with oil and bake 40-50 min in 375F. We added maple syrup, butter and cinnamon. A delicious way to get plenty of vitamins B, C, betacarotene and minerals. Great for healing your intestines, ulcers, wounds. Another remedy is hidden in the food!

This a reminder for all patients who did not schedule an appointment for hygiene and check-up. The end of the year is fast approaching and your insurance will go to waste. We have noticed a lot more gum inflammations and new carious lesions due to improper hygiene and lack of dental care. Please be reminded, that your dental health has a direct influence over your overall health. As a loving parent, you are also responsible to provide your child with timely and proper dental care. We are here to help!

Your life depends on your heart. Your heart depends on you. It depends on your diet and your exercise or the lack of it. Having quarantine at home, reaching for sweets and chewy comfort foods can create problems. Not having systematic brushing and flossing habits incorporated into your daily routine can create periodontal inflammation. People with gum disease are more likely to have heart disease. Some experts think bacteria from your gums may move into your bloodstream, causing bacteremia and leading to inflammation of the blood vessels and other heart problems. See your dentist and your hygienist every 6 months for checkups. Make an appointment right away if you spot redness or soreness on your gums or changes in your teeth, or if your gums are bleeding. Bone regeneration: a very important part of healing after tooth extraction. On average bone undergoes resorption almost in 60% in the first 6 weeks after tooth removal. This a physiological process, which continues further with a slower tempo. We have to remember, that usually the tooth is removed because of an existing problem: degeneration of the roots, abscesses, periodontosis, so the bone structure is already damaged. Bone regeneration helps in maintaining stronger, wider bone for future prosthetic restoration: implants, bridges or properly fitting dentures.
