Congratulations to May's donation recipient, AVENS - A Community for Seniors! They are doing a great job of providing a safe home for northern seniors, but are now also launching a fantastic new gardening program with an onsite greenhouse. What a wonderful addition this will be to their campus!

We'll be announcing our May winner soon so stay tuned for the info on another great organization! And don't forget to please keep sending in the applications to [email protected]. Many of the ones we've received so far were for great events, but they've been cancelled due to the pandemic. We know that there are lots of worthwhile causes, projects and events that could use $1000 - we just need to hear from the applicants!

Very happy to be able to do our part to help this very worthwhile organization that does so much to help Yellowknife families!

Our April donation recipient is the YWCA - NWT, who reached out with the following message: "Local NWT families and YWCA NWT clients continue to be impacted by COVID-19. Many have experienced job losses and most local food supply places our clients depend on that provide free or discount food have closed. This is devastating for many of our clients who don't have immediate access to food to feed their families, and will continue to affect them negatively in the uncertain weeks and possibly months to come." We have used our $1000 for April to purchase 10 grocery store gift cards of $100 each, which the YWCA - NWT will distribute to its families.

We are very proud to announce that our first $1000 cheque goes to NWT Arctic Anglers! They are a wonderful group who organize an annual ice fishing derby. This event is a fun outdoor activity for families that also donates all proceeds to local children's groups. The event this year is on April 4th and will support Food First. Congratulations to NWT Arctic Anglers and thank you to them for all that they do to make our community a better place!

The cheque is ready and waiting to be filled in!

Happy Anniversary to Dragon Toner Law Office, who is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! As part of the celebration Dragon Toner will be donating $10,...000 to local organizations. The law firm will give out 10 monthly donations of $1,000 starting in March 2020. The application process is easy.
