Dragonflies & Plantain

The story behind my business name ~ my world this past couple of years has been a challenge to say the least, and it has also been a whirlwind of change ... My backyard is my sanctuary, my own private 2 acre park. I wander around exploring new herbs aka weeds, checking the growth of plants, seeing what’s in bloom, listening to the water trickle as I give thirsty plants a drink, or just sitting in one of our many spots to have a break and just reflect and notice the life buz...zing and thriving around me. It’s my zen, and it helps keep me grounded and mindful. There are Dragonflies darting about everyday in my garden, all around me, more than I’ve ever seen before. Different sizes and colors, all distinct and beautiful in their own way, following me around and landing so they are near me, or even landing on me. amazing nature. Dragonflies symbolize change, transformation, adaptability, self-realization, light, and personal growth. In almost every part of the world, the Dragonfly symbolizes change. The change that is often referred to has its source in mental and emotional maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life. A Dragonfly is also a sign that angels are surrounding you bringing you love. If you see Dragonflies often, you have been called to look within and see what areas you could possibly improve on, and what you can shed in order to bring more light and freedom into your life. I’ve seen Wild Plantain growing everywhere in my lawn, more than I’ve ever noticed before, it stands out in clusters among the thin blades of grass. It is long believed by many herbalists and plant workers, that herbs show up in your life when you need them the most. Mother Nature provides us with our plant allies and plants are messengers for the medicine they provide us. Plants try to get our attention when they have something to offer us, they show up when needed. So look around. Pay attention to what is unusually abundant around you. The plants are telling you something and you should listen. Plantain has gained the greatest reputation and is probably best known for its wound healing properties. The astringent, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect of the plant makes it helpful in treating minor wounds, cuts, and scrapes. Plantain is an edible perennial plant that grows in many locations from spring to autumn. Not only is this a vital wild edible plant for overall good health, this wild weed can be used to treat digestive tract disorders. I mined the amethyst that sits inside the skull many years ago at the amethyst mine in Thunder Bay. lots of memories sitting in this corner...
