Halloween is almost here! Be careful if you are considering costume contact lenses. Improper fit and care can result in serious, permanent vision loss. Also, be careful with all that face paint and makeup around the eyes. If you have any issues call my office and we will get you in as soon as possible. Have a happy and safe Halloween! https://t.co/zut4bou2vi

This is a great example of how people with colour deficiencies see the world. Many people don’t realize that most colour deficiency does not mean total colour blindness/loss. #themoreyouknow #learnsomethingneweveryday

We are only a few hours away from the 2017 Solar Eclipse! It is a once in a lifetime event. However, if you view it directly, without certified eclipse glasses, you will likely end up blind. Your eye will act as a magnifying glass and literally cook the inside of your eyes, the retina. The ONLY 100% safe way to view the sun and the solar eclipse is by making a Pinhole Viewer/Camera. Do not look at the sun, even with your darkest sunglasses; they are NOT safe! Here is a step-by-step guide from NASA on how to make a pinhole viewer for tomorrow's eclipse. Stay safe and enjoy this amazing event!

**Attention all patients** As of this week Dr. Brian Paul will no longer be practicing at the Dundas Optometry Clinic. He has partnered with Dr. Sheldon Salaba of Advanced Vision Eyewear Boutique. We have two locations in Hamilton; 67 Queen Street South (at the corner of Main Street) and 1119 Fennel Avenue East (at the corner of Upper Ottawa). Please call the office at 905-540-3937 or 905-389-9302 if you would like to have an appointment with Dr. Paul. Dr. Paul and his wife would also like to introduce the new addition to their family, Rebecca Emma Paul. She arrived on July 21, 2017, so we apologize if your appointment has had to be moved and appreciate your understanding. It has been an exciting month with lots to look forward to in the future and we hope to see you all at the new location!

Don’t find yourself down by 2 with seconds to go. We’re talking about glasses not baskets.

Wow! This guy is amazing. He did not let his blindness stop him from learning to skateboard.

Watch this sweet moment when a 6-month-old sees properly for the first time! Brittany Corbett and her husband recently found out that their daughter has amblyop...ia, a genetic disorder where the brain and left eye aren't working together. Luckily, the glasses help her out and by the look on her face, she loves them very much! (Video from the Corbett family)

The eye is an extension of the brain. [Optometrists] are able to pick up on problems by the appearance of nerves, pupil responses, and eye tracking. I’ve picked up on brain tumors and aneurysms in my practice." -- AOA President Andrea P. Thau, O.D.
