Time to shift the #selfcare world we have been sold Self-care does not need to be expensive or involve fancy spa fancy visits (don't get me wrong I still love them). Selfcare means taking care of you, in whatever way that means for you! I think outings of self-care are easier because they pull us away from daily life, and usually our phones! We also often go in with the intent of #treatyoself so we know we are making ourselves a priority.... The catch - you can make yourself a priority without having to spend big $$$. This list is only a few ideas, if you're looking for more you should join the wellness challenge! (You get a big list of ideas when you sign up and access to the private Facebook of women who are making themselves a priority!) Sign up to the #100daysofwellness via the link in my bio End 2020 with you and your health as a priority See more

Here's a story for you... A patient came in a told me that every time she took Magnesium it gave her loose bowels the next day and she never even noticed any benefit. So obviously, she stopped taking it. We reviewed the supplement together and discovered that she was taking a type of Magnesium that she didn't need. So I recommended a different version of Magnesium better suited to her needs. Sadly she was misled by the labeling on a bottl...e and though it said it was the right type when we took a closer look at the actual ingredients we discovered it was again was filled with the wrong ingredient. Finally, we found her the right product, and guess what - she noticed a huge benefit right away! And those leftover supplements? Well her mom was able to take them and noticed they helped her without any unwanted side effects, so no waste! The moral of the story here is to make sure you look at the actual ingredients of the supplement and you understand why & what you are taking. And though something may be right for one person it may not be right for you. You are an individual and so are your health needs **This is for health purposes only and is not intended to be taken as medical advice. Always consult your health care provider before starting anything new.** See more

We are moving, which means we are purging! When we moved into our current place I was in my last year of med school and we packed and moved in fewer than 2 weeks. We just brought everything with us. I don't know if it's the change of season or what, but I have been enjoying taking my time to pack things up and slowly go through and find things that we no longer need/use anymore. We are trying to donate everything that we can. I'm looking forward to making this new space nice and homey. BIG bonus - it has in-suite laundry (finalllllyyy!) andddd it allows dogs!!! No, we aren't planning on getting a dog right away, but it nice to have that as an option now!

Leading up to this weekend I thought I was pretty calm and relaxed. You know .. thought I was handling everything okay After a few hours of actual relaxation I realized how much low grade stress I was always carrying with me. So after a wonderful weekend away I implemented a few changes: I drastically reduced my caffeine intake I booked myself in for some self care appointments... I went back to bedtime routine And what I think made the biggest change - I became more purposeful with my phone & social media use Here’s hoping it doesn’t take another weekend away to remind myself to chill out See more

5 Reasons Why Your Energy is Low 1. Your nutrient levels are low The most common ones are iron and Vitamin B12. It is important to get these tested regularly. Especially if you are a menstruating female! That way you can make any appropriate diet or supplement changes. ... 2. Your sleep is insufficient Maybe you aren’t getting enough sleep? Or are you laying in bed forever and struggling with the quality of your sleep? When we sleep we recover and recharge. 3. Your hormones are off A simple statement with a not so simple explanation. There are MANY hormones in your body that have an impact on energy. However, with some thorough questions & investigation, we can usually narrow down what is happening. 4. Your blood sugars are all over the place When our blood sugars are all over the place our energy matches it. We become hyper with the rush of sugar and then crash as it drops. This can often appear as a post-lunch crash, usually occurring shortly after we eat. 5. Your stress is high and not managed properly We live in a society where stress seems unavoidable. The key to making sure it doesn’t impact your energy is to ensure you are managing it properly. We can’t always change our sources of stress but we can change how we support ourselves, and that can make all the difference! There are many other reasons why your energy could be low, these are just a few, chronic infections, nutrition, medications, chronic illness, dehydration the list can go on! The point is you do not need to feel tired all the time! YOU CAN have reliable and consistent energy each day! With some investigation, we can figure what is holding you back and how to get you feeling the way you know you can! See more
