To all patients: As a result of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, and after much thought and consideration, I have chosen to follow the guidance of recent recommendations set out by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, to temporarily suspend regular treatments effective immediately for at least the next two weeks. I will still be available for those who require urgent treatment. While the threat in Windsor-Essex is currently low according to the Windsor-Essex County Health Un...it, I feel taking precautionary measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 is the best decision at this time. The health and safety of my patients is always my top priority. I will be closely monitoring the situation and I will contact those whos appointments have been affected in order to reschedule once I am able to do so. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience through this difficult time. If you have any questions, concerns, or require urgent treatment, please do not hesitate to call me at 519-999-4484 or email me directly at [email protected] If you believe you may be exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, please consult the newly implemented Ontario COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool linked below: https://www.ontario.ca//2019-novel-coronavirus-covid-19-se Stay safe, use best practices to stay healthy, and I hope to return to treating you all as soon as possible. Thank you, Dr. LeBlanc

Forty percent of work absences are due to back pain, second only to the common cold. If back pain has been keeping you from going to work or from doing everyday activities, chiropractic care may be able to help you get back to tip top form However, as is highlighted by this article, its important to be active to try and prevent back pain from occurring in the first place. Dont let the cold weather keep you from moving!

"Did you know?" A get-to-know-Dr.-LeBlanc edition! Since I was little, hockey has been a huge passion of mine. Back in 2017, my father, my now-husband, and I founded the Amherstburg Ladies Hockey League. The ALHL is a non-competitive league where women of all skill levels can learn and enjoy the game of hockey. We have players who have never held a hockey stick to those who have been playing for as long as they remember. Im proud to not only sponsor the ALHL, but to be able to provide an opportunity for the women of Amherstburg and surrounding areas to play our national sport :)

Hi folks! Long time no post! As many of you know, Im getting married in early May (shes coming up quick!). As a result, my office hours will be shortened during the month of May. I will be having regular office hours up until Wednesday, May 8th, which will be your last chance to come in for treatment before Im off for the wedding :) I will then have office hours on Wednesday, May 15th (9AM-6PM) and Friday, May 17th (9AM-6PM) before I head out for the honeymoon for some muc...h needed recharging and relaxation. My regular office hours will resume in early June! At this time, I will not be accepting new patients until early June when I return to my normal hours. I do apologize for any inconvenience my absence may cause, but I thank you for your understanding. P.S. Stay tuned for some exciting news!

School is just around the corner! Make sure your child is wearing their backpack correctly! Here are a few tips backpack-wearing tips to help prevent unnecessary back pain 1. Make sure your child has a lightweight small or medium-sized backpack to prevent carrying an excess of items 2. Your childs backpack should have wide, padded shoulder straps, plenty of pockets, and a hip or waist strap to help evenly distribute the weight... 3. The total weight of a filled backpack should only be 10-15% of your childs total body weight! 4. Pack heaviest objects close to the body and place bumpy or odd-shaped ones on the outside, away from the back. 5. Both straps should be used and adjusted so that the backpack fits snugly to the body. There should be enough room for you to be able to slide your hand between the backpack and your childs back. 6. Last but not least, the backpack should never be worn over just one shoulder! Pack it light and wear it right!

I often get asked what creates the popping or cracking sound that is heard during an adjustment (known as a cavitation to us chiropractors). Heres a handy video that explains whats happening within the joint to create that sound

Ive recently been trying to climb out of my comfort zone (pun absolutely intended) to try new things to keep active and to challenge my body physically. This may not look like much, but two weeks ago I would have told you theres no way I could have hung on to any of the holds in the cave walls. Setting fitness goals doesnt always have to be something huge! In fact, my next goal is to try to figure out the next step (quite literally) in this climbing route. Ive set myself... a small goal on route to my larger goal of one day being able to finish one of these cave routes. Get out there, have some fun, and challenge yourself to try something new! Just as an FYI, I fell almost immediately after this picture was taken but you best believe I got right back to try again

This is a fantastic video that shows why proper lifting posture is important! When you lift things that are far away from your body, the joints and muscles and ligaments of your back are put under a lot stress which can lead to back pain. Keep the load close to your body and let your legs help with that lift! Are you currently dealing with back pain? Give me a call or book online (balanceinlife.janeapp.com) so we can try to get you back on track Full credit goes out to @dr.jacob.harding
