If you’re interested in learning more about this project, and potentially participating, you can follow this link http://bit.ly/victim_BWC to complete the survey online. To our community members, survivors, and allies, The OCRCC and a number of Sexual Assault Centres across the province are saddened to announce the postponement of our Take Back The Night Virtual Edition. With safety precautions around Covid-19 and regulations on hosting large events we want to bring to survivors across the province the best Virtual Take Back The Night that we can. The virtual event will take place later this Fall. Stay tuned for updates! Follow the #TBTNVIR...TUAL hashtag for updates or check back on our Facebook event page and the OCRCC website where updates will be shared. In these uncertain times it is important that we take the time to create an event that engages survivors, and that truly encompasses our theme for 2020 which focuses on honouring and supporting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons of Colour) Survivors in sharing their stories. We recognize that BIPOC survivors have long been silenced by systemic racism and face an increased risk of experiencing sexual and physical violence. We want to provide space for BIPOC survivors and their voices. We want to acknowledge the barriers that racism creates for BIPOC survivors when they are accessing support and we want to work towards dismantling these systems within our own communities. We would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to our speakers and community members who submitted pieces for our Take Back The Night Video. We can't wait to showcase your words and art soon, and we hope to do them justice. We would like to give a special thank you to Black Women In Motion, who partnered with us to support community submissions. We will have updates on our rescheduled Take Back The Night Virtual Edition, please stay tuned!
