Hi everyone! It has been awhile since I’ve been active on social media. I could blame COVID for this hiatus, but I know deep down I just seemed to have lost my drive. I have been working on myself the past few weeks and I can feel the drive coming back, so I figured why not start with an intro post for you all! I’m currently living in Miramichi where I am lucky to have a huge support network of family and close friends. My educational background included a 4-year Undergradu...ate degree at Dalhousie University where I graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science with Major in Psychology. Trying to decide what path I wanted to take after this was a tough one - as I became very passionate about mental health but also had a side of me that wanted to be in medicine. That is when Naturopathic Medicine made its way into my life. It combined the medical world, the physical health and the mental health and it resonated with my own beliefs and goals. So, after 4 very tough years of school in Toronto - I graduated in 2017 with my Doctor of Naturopathy degree. We then had to complete our licensing exam (a 3-day exam!), and I was able to set up my practice in Miramichi at a beautiful new clinic on the river @miramichinaturopathic I honestly cannot believe I have now been practicing for just over 3 years, but it has been a beautiful rollercoaster of a journey since starting. I currently live in Chatham with my partner and best friend, Jamie. We have an amazing (crazy) pup named Lenny (@lunaticlenny ). Most of my family is here, including my adorable niece Chloe, but we are missing my sister who is in Newfoundland who just had the most perfect little boy named Bennett in December! Being outside has been a priority this winter, as travel is not an option - so we’ve worked hard to ensure we spend lots of time outdoors! Here’s to 2021 being a year a goal setting and achieving and reconnecting with you all!

Firstly, we are focusing on the whole body. We want to understand what is happening that could contribute to some of your skin issues. It is possible there are foods that are causing your acne, or eczema, or maybe your gut health is not in great condition and we need to address these issues as well. It is definitely not a one size fits all! One of our naturopathic principles is treating the whole body, so this is no different for facial acupuncture treatments. . . Secondly,... and this is the part that you are all probably most interested in, is these small acupuncture needles that we are inserting into your facial skin are actually creating an inflammatory response. You might be wondering, how does inflammation help my wrinkles? Well, basically as we insert acupuncture needles, your body recognizes this as a foreign object. This starts a cascade of events that leads to an inflammatory response. You can actually visibly see redness around the needles that have been inserted. With an inflammatory response, comes an increase in circulation and also an increase in COLLAGEN production! Collagen is one of the main structural proteins found in the skin, and provides firmness and strength to tissues and skin. It works alongside elastin to create that tightening look we are all seeking! The needles used in this technique are known as Intradermal needles (right), and are very small and inserted along your fine lines. . . During your treatments, we are also focusing on your facial muscles. By needling certain areas of the muscle with very thin needles (left), we are tonifying those muscles and creating a lifting effect to the area. As we age, our muscles tend to become more lax, from facial expressions for example. So it is important that if we want to create a younger look, we need to ensure your muscles are toned and working properly. Questions? Comment or DM me!

FACIAL REJUVENATION AND COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment focused on reducing fine lines, improving circulation, brightening complexion, promoting collagen production and working on an overall skin health. .... . These treatments are based off of the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves insertion of small, fine needles into various acupuncture points on the face, as well as the rest of the body. Small, intradermal needles are also used along wrinkle lines to minimize the appearance of wrinkles. . . While focusing on the facial area, we also add other, distal points to treat the whole body. For example, if you struggle with redness, this is often a sign of excess heat in the body. Excess heat in this case is a TCM diagnosis, in which our main focus would be to needle points that have the action of releasing heat from the body. These points are often found on the extremities! Interesting fact: when points bleed on needle removal, this is a sign your body is actually releasing that heat! When receiving your treatment, you will also have several points needled that are not on the facial area. This is because beauty comes from within, and we want to harmonize and balance out your internal TCM organs. Your initial appointment with me would be a full general health intake to understand how your whole body is functioning and how this might be effecting your skin health!
