Fantastic post from TPI that highlights the amount of work these athletes and teams around them work day in and day out to be functioning at peak performance! The world is changing and if you don't stop and look around every once in a while, you could miss it! "Ferris Bueller" Brooks' team of personal trainers and physical therapists have worked on getting Brooks to maintain a neutral pelvis and spine which in turn helps to improve his ability to maintain peak velocity during his swing. Before Brooks undergoes strength training the team makes sure that they analyze any limiting factors that may be affecting his swing by completing a functional movement screen. These screens and low-threshold exercises are often not shown over social media but are an integral part of keeping these athletes moving forward towards their goals

While prescription drugs serve their purpose, it is becoming more accepted amongst the medical community to receive hands-on therapy, exercise and other modalities to treat low back pain. Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Sitting places stresses on the spine that lead to unwanted pain and discomfort. For those who's job requires them to be seated for prolonged periods throughout the day, it is now time to make some new years resolutions/habits that will lead to a more healthy 2017 and beyond! 1) Get up every 20-30 minutes and walk/jog/run/do anything to MOVE! 2) Make sure that your work station is as ergonomic as you ca...n make it. (Seated, feet flat on the floor, knees at 90 degree angle, arms rested at your side with computer screen at eye level) 3) Incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Only 30 minutes is recommended. 4) Come visit your local chiropractor. Chiropractors have the education to effectively treat conditions related to prolonged sitting. Golfers! For those of you trying to maintain or improve your golf fitness through these cold winter months make sure to follow these simple rules. When spring comes along you will feel like you haven't missed a beat, leading to a more fluent and powerful swing with less likelihood of injury. 1. Complete a 10 minute, full body warm-up before completing each workout. ... 2. Establish a good foundation. Training large muscle groups of your lower body such as your glutes, quads and hamstring will give you the stability needed to maintain a balanced and controlled swing. 3. Don't forget golfers are power driven athletes. The golf swing demands a high level of power to be executed successfully. Therefore, focusing on power specific moves in the gym are of upmost importance. Some good examples are medicine ball throws that involve some rotation component, squat jumps, kettle bell swings and many more. 4. Find your imbalances and train specific to what you need to improve the fluidity of your swing. Whether your limitation is mobility of certain joints, coordination or stability, fixing these things will give your body the tools to perform to your best with less susceptibility to injury. To find out what your imperfections are, find a Titleist Performance Institute certified professional such as myself to assist you through a screen of your physical capabilities. 5. Less is more when it comes to reps. Completing 3-6 very explosive reps compared to 10-15 average reps will be more specific to the power created during a 2 second golf swing. 6. Have fun with it!

There is a mounting body of evidence that shows favourable results to the effectiveness of chiropractic care incl...uding: significant improvement in pain symptoms, quicker recovery times after injury, less disability and a decrease in medication use!
