This is something that has been weighing on my mind and heart for a while. It's taken me a long time to share because it's bittersweet for me. I built Dream Again, a parenting support business that has helped parents with anything from sleep, emotions and behaviours. I still vividly remember sitting on the side of my bed when the boys were 2 months old and realizing I slept long enough to have a dream. It was a realization that parenting comes in phases and seasons that can b...e filled with joy and happiness but also hardships and frustration. I wanted to help parents during this phase because I struggled with it so much. Fast forward 3 years later, a few changes in business names, a 180 change in direction of approaches, unforgettable relationships built with clients and countless hours of writing, creating and meeting incredible small business owners, I have decided to close this chapter in my life. I struggled with knowing that I strongly support parents spending quality time with their children and here I am sitting behind my computer for hours on end. Basically, I wasn't feeling the joy and satisfaction of this business that I had hoped and at the end of the day, I want to be more present for my kids. I thank each and every one of you for your following and support. Parenting is a tough gig and I appreciate you trusting my advice and suggestions. I had shared this decision with a few close friends and family and I got a lot of "I'm sorry" responses filled with sadness and empathy. Please know that I am happy about this decision. It feels good. It feels right. I am beyond excited for the opportunities that are ahead of me. Thank you for your patronage over the years.

Have you ever found yourself asking your child this? . The answer is easy...and hard at the same time. . Learning to identify their emotions, regulate those emotions and handle a situation in an appropriate manner takes years....YEARS of learning and practise. We also have to ensure that our children are old enough (AKA their brain is mature enough) to do this. Typically, age 7 is the sweet age where they can start to utilize a lot of those abstract thinking abilities such as ...problem solving, rationalizing and regulating. . Until then (and lets be honest, even after then), you will probably follow these steps: 1. Teach them 2. Repeat for them 3. Remind them 4. Guide them 5. Tell them again 6. Reiterate yourself 7. Say it again 8. Model for them (show them through example) 9. Do it again 10. Keep doing it 11. Keep saying it 12. I think you get the point . The most important step to remember through all of this learning and repeating and modelling is to love on them. Be there for them. Be that safe place to release whatever they have built up and feel. . It takes a lot of "times" before children will start to regulate their emotions but that doesn't mean repeating yourself like a broken record, with an open heart is your only option to help them. . Consider our Feelings and Coping Strategies package that is designed to help your child learn the first steps in self-regulation where they will lear to Identify the feeling and communicate what they need in that moment. Since it's not a good time to chat while your child is mid-meltdown, giving them the tools to communicate what they want in that moment will give them another option than kicking and screaming on the floor. . This skill will serve them well at school to build and maintain relationships. . So next time you ask your child this- whether in your head or out loud, consider our resource so you don't have to rinse and repeat again and again and again... . . . . . . #emotions #selfregulation #meltdowns #tantrums #toddlerhood #lifewithatoddler #parentingishard #gentleparenting #visualsupport #positiveparenting #consciousparenting #feelings #copingstrategies #teachermom #dreamagainholistic See more
