Trying to ride through this lower area was funny as hell. I only fell 4 times. You couldn’t turn it was so thick so I’d straight line lean back and keep the nose up all went good till I hit a log and launched cause I was going pretty fast trying to skip over the bushes landed and was ok didn’t land on anything hidden or get impaled by anything. I walked the rest the way down. Yesterday I tried something I’ve never done before. Indoor bouldering. I had a blast, ended up being there for 3hrs and was on wall a solid 2.5 hrs of those three. Right away got my ego handed to me like at one point near the end I gave a plastic hold the finger cause my foot would not stay on it after many tires. I figured being a decent 5.10 climber I’d be able to start off on a V6 for those that don’t climb I’ll post a thing of ratings in my story after. Anyways after war...ming up on the fingerboard ladder cruising up and down it twice on the smallest holds it was time to hit these weird bulky, round, fairly large hard to hold on to plastic chunks. So like I said right away got my ego checked at the door couldn’t even get past the first 2 moves of a V6, me thinking to myself not really knowing bouldering grades wow I suck at this. V5 nope,at this point I’m like weird ok let’s start off on a V2 I just wanna get the top of something Ok that was easy, turns out the most fun for me was V3’s they had dyno moves with good hand holds steep over hangs awkward corners. What a great way to practice technique and finesse, cause I don’t have any of that, I always use brute strength and determination. The 3 hour drive home sucked my upper body I could barley move my arms after. I climbed so much and struggled to push the button on the gear shifter in the car to put it into drive. Stoked to go back here I actually enjoyed this more than the tall indoor climbing walls. Poor Kay tho pretty sure I talked her ear off about it all night. But got pay back and had (I could of gone done something else) to watch the new Holland Drag Race not gonna lie those bitches brought it last night! One the best runways I’ve ever seen. I do like the time of year when the colours are starting to change!!

On my recent trip this valley made me really stop and think n really appreciate our forests.There feels like there’s not many hikes on land that isn’t protected do you see a forest so vibrant with out any major signs of logging or clear cuts (not that I have anything against it cause it provides me access to these beautiful places easily) just an observation Iv noticed. There were these really big stumps in the forest with notches just below the cut line where they’d stick ...a plank in to cut the tree down from, when it was originally felled some 50 years ago. Reminded me a lot like home minus the cedar trees. Well that was an adventure and a half. Don’t even know where to start. It was a very late start like 10:30am very leisure So we started at the base of mountain in front of 3 sisters (in Fernie) got most the way up the main ridge before dropping down below the summit and traversing under the ridge line. We climbed back up from the valley bottom and back on the super long ridge. It goes from Fernie to Hosmer pretty much it’s soo long. But by the time we got up to the second pa...rt the ridge it was either climb down and bushwhack then climb up and bushwhack. Or take a chance climbing up to the high point on this part the massif and dropping down the back side and connecting the two peaks that way. Luckily we were close enough we had cell service fired up google earth and it looked like it went. This is where the adventure starts. I’m standing looking back at what we crossed in this photo. The down climb was sketchy low class 5 down climbing on loose ass fragile rocks. Alright that’s done we’re safe what’s next ohh 20m of knife edge traversing hanging off one side holding on the top hoping it doesn’t break off in your hand. Alright crossed that what a rush. What’s next fairly moderate but exposed down climb, 30cm wide ridge climb up walk across grass on top super stable finally across. Up climb looked horrible wasn’t bad pretty easy and quick. Dropped down the backside into the meadow on the west side and set up camp surprising it was only 5:30pm. This was pretty neat I’ve never seen this type of formation before they look like 2m deep trenches, and went in a straight horizontal line for a kilometre or more and there were 3 benches of these long deep trenches. Not 100% sure why this has happened I have looked online but can’t find anything about these in the fernie area. Its on the way to big white mountain heading north from the spine back trail. I don’t recall seeing these on the south side of that trail heading towa...rds theb3 bears, so it’s like they just end there. I also havnt seen these anywhere else in the Fernie/Elkford area either. Any one enlighten me about these? I have a geography of B.C. book also and didn’t find anything in there either. Soo last 2 days I had a pounding headache, I knew it was from heat exhaustion and not enough water as I’m an idiot and drank probably about 1L in two days, climbed a mountain and sat in a hot truck for 12 hours. Was feeling bit outta it the next morning thought it be better if I didnt go to work the next day. Well cause a headache is a symptom of covid work has made me go get a covid test. It fucking hurts!! A frigging brain swap holy shit they ram the q tip right up there. H...onestly thought it was a drive through lobotomy clinic it goes sooo far up your nose!
