Our telephone issue seems to be sorted out. The office will be closed Tuesday, September 8 due to the unexpected need for travel out of province for medical reasons for a family member. I apologize for the inconvenience. Wishing all of the students and teachers a successful return to the classroom, as we continue to learn to do things in new and different ways. Stay safe and be kind!

Please note we seem to be having difficulty with our phone system this morning. If you have an urgent need, please call 811, 911, or go to the emergency department as needed. We are working on sorting out this problem. Thank you for your patience.

Over the past few weeks, the clinic has become much busier. As per public health guidelines, the number of in-person appointments we are able to offer is limited. We are struggling with how to manage filling this gap with virtual care. I start each day with rounds at the hospital. Although I aim to complete this work to be in the clinic on time, it is unpredictable and I am often delayed. There are days when I am on call to assist in the operating room, which can take m...e away from the clinic at a moment's notice. I have to answer phone calls from pharmacies, home care nursing, and other allied health professionals. And you all know how unpredictable delivering babies can be. All of this to say...please be patient when you have a booked telephone appointment if I do not call at the exact time. I will call you on the day you have the appointment (barring an emergency at the hospital), even if it takes me into the evening to get to you. But please answer your phone when I call! At present, we will not be treating missed calls as a no show, but a phone appointment is still an appointment, and cannot easily be rescheduled to later in the day. A missed call will usually mean the appointment will be rescheduled to a different day. I realize this may be inconvenient, but it is the best we can do at this point. Keep in mind appointments are scheduled for 15 minutes. If you have a complex need that is likely to take longer than this, please let Jolline know so we can schedule appropriately. Thank you for your ongoing patience as we navigate these challenges together.

Summer Hours: I will be out of the office for work-related duties July 23-24. The office will be closed for vacation July 27-31 and August 17-21. We continue to accept appointments in person (non-medical mask required), by phone, and by videoconference. Please call the clinic on the morning you wish to have the appointment and we should be able to accomodate you the same day.... Please note for video and telephone appointments, every effort is made to contact you at the time the appointment is scheduled, but there may be a delay. For phone appointments, the call will show up as "No Caller ID". I am finding many patients are not answering the phone call, resulting in difficulty re-scheduling that call later in the day. Prescription refills require an appointment (generally by phone). This is to ensure the medication being prescribed is still appropriate, and that any screening/investigations that may be due are brought up to date. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation as we continue to navigate this COVID world together. Be safe and be kind.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: While we are excited about the Atlantic Bubble, in an effort to ensure safety for both staff and patients in the clinic, beginning July 6 MASKS WILL BE MANDATORY for anyone coming in to the clinic for an appointment or to pick-up/drop-off papers. (Exception for children 2 years of age or younger.) We would still ask if you have symptoms of cough/fever/cold/flu that you avoid visiting the office and instead arrange phone/video appointments or call 811 to be s...een at the Cough and Fever Clinic in Slemon Park. Masks have good evidence for limiting asymptomatic spread of COVID-19. While the burden of illness in Atlantic Canada remains low, we feel this is an important measure to protect our patients and our staff during this transition. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Please consider supporting Jolline in this worthy cause. She is raising funds in honour of Camden Kingyens, "our little warrior" (see photo in post above). For those who may not be aware, Cam was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor, in December. He has completed chemotherapy in Toronto and is now about to start radiation treatments.
