Everyone knows the importance of folate and a prenatal during pregnancy. My other go tos: 1. Omega 3 for brain development, among other things. Healthy dietary fats are important but sometimes difficult to get in with the nausea many women feel. Omega 3s balance that. 2. Vitamin D to keep the #immunesystem in check. This one is best dosed after testing your serum levels. Vitamin D acting as a prohormone has complex implications in our bodies, but at its base promoting anti-...inflammatory processes is key. 3. Probiotic to support #digestion, among other things. A multistrain is a good place to start. Many NDs would say gut health is the source of all health! This trio will also help prevent atopic conditions like eczema and asthma in developing baby. Cheers to all those bumps out there! #omega3 #healthyfat #skinhealth #vitamind #antiinflammatory #probiotic #guthhealth #pregnancytips #pregnancysupport #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont

Allergies are probably not on your mind in January, but they should be! Working on your #immunesystem now helps your body deal with the #allergens in a more balanced way come your season. It is possible to reduce your #runnynose, #itchyeyes, and #headaches! Treating #allergies to be more comfortable is one reason to start preventing them. I also like discussing them now because the #histamine associated with your symptoms runs into #hormonalhealth, #fertility, #skinhealth, a...nd #digestion. So treating your allergies means you get a whole slew of benefits. Now you know Ask your ND and get set up before the season gets you. #allergiesbegone #skinglow #hormonebalance #fertilitytip #nowyouknow #getonit #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont

Experiencing a #miscarriage is life changing. Many of the times we don’t know why it happens making it an emotional time for couples. Trying to conceive again can be triggering and downright scary. NDs like myself like to minimize contributing risk factors so that you can move forward more confidently. We talk about #vitamind status. Possibility of #celiac disease. Check #progesterone levels and #thyroid function. Discuss #diet. Investigate the possibility of #autoimmunedisea...se. And others. We consider it all so that you don’t have to #miscarriageawareness #miscarriageprevention #rpl #recurrentpregnancyloss #getchecked #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont #fertility #fertilitysupport #fertilitytips #infertility #infertilityawareness

So your cycle is giving you trouble. It comes early. Or late. Or not at all. Your period is heavy. The bleeding is unmanageable. Your cramps have you skipping school/work/activities. Enter the pill. The miracle fix-all. Your cycle seems normal but is it actually? The pill overrides your body’s signals to control your cycle. This means you stop ovulating, which is exactly what you need to prevent pregnancy. It’s exactly opposite of what you need if you’re wanting to correct yo...ur hormones. Regular ovulation is what you need to have regular cycles with periods that come and go without much to say. The pill isn’t helping you achieve that. It’s just shutting things down so you can get through. So you figure out why your period is unpredictable or why your flow is so heavy, start treatment (diet, lifestyle, supplements), wait 3-6 months and You have yourself a healthy cycle. #periods #periodproblems #thepill #ocpnews #healthyperiods #fertility #fertilityawareness #natuopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont

The good news is that NDs are equipped to help you at any stage in your fertility journey. We can help support implantation with your embryo transfers. Happy transfers to you all!... #ivflife #ivfsupport #embryotransfer #pregnancysupport #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont

Progesterone and estrogen. #Besties forever Progesterone is the partner of estrogen. It dominates the second half of your cycle called the #lutealphase. It is produced by a mass of cells left behind by your ovulating follicle. So no #ovulation means no progesterone. No progesterone means #PMS and #infertility. Progesterone is talked about when a woman is experiencing an anovulatory cycles. That means ladies with #amenorrhea and #PCOS... It’s also important for women with #endometriosis because they usually have a higher circulating level of #estrogen that needs to be balanced by its bestie #progesterone. Without it, estrogen dominant symptoms like #heavyperiods and #cramps go unchecked. It’s also important in women who have experienced #miscarriage. #recurrentpregnancyloss is often associated with progesterone deficiencies, among other causes. Most practitioners will have you test progesterone on day 21 of your cycle because that normally signifies the middle of your luteal phase. Well, not all of us have a textbook menstrual cycle so it’s important to have it tested in the middle of YOUR luteal phase. Counting 7 days after ovulation will get you the exact day you need for optimal testing. Best wishes for strong progesterone to you all #fertilitytips #healthyhormones #hormonebalance #infertilitysupport #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont

PCOS. We’ve all heard about it. We’ve also all heard it’s due to our sugar control i.e. #diet and activity mostly. Could there be more to the story? Well, if you know me, there’s always more to the story. Many subtypes. All different causes. All different treatments. All lead to irregular cycles that create #PMS changes and #fertility struggles. ... If you think you have #PCOS but don’t fit into the classic criteria, chances are you fit into one of the other subtypes. If you have been diagnosed with PCOS and haven’t been responding to treatment as expected, you might do better being supported within another subtype. Let us know what’s worked for you! #pcosawareness #infertility #somanytypes #gotyourback #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont

Weight loss, hormones, fertility, stress, and digestion. They’re all related. One impacts the other. No wonder one approach doesn’t work for us all. A patient today told me he lost 20lbs and 3 inches in 1 month. Amazing! We chose the right diet plan for him, with attainable goals that makes him feel good. For him that meant helping fat digestion, creating a smoking cessation plan and working out meal timing over his shift work, along with the usual macronutrient tracking and ...daily activity goals. He nailed it. And now we wait for his hormones to balance and his sperm production to improve. We know that losing 5-10% of your overall weight improves fertility and hormonal health. For most of us that’s under 20lbs. You can do it with the right plan. And yes, do it before the holidays! #weightloss #spermhealth #healthyhormones #keto #paleo #mediteranneandiet #fertility #fertilityjourney #infertility #malehormones #testicularfailure #ldnont #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor

This family will forever be with me. This little man was born to a couple who has been trying to #conceive for years. Both young and #health focused. They were doing everything right. When we started looking into mama’s health we noticed a few things were up. #Thyroid, #allergies, #endometriosis and #autoimmunity just scratch the surface. She took every recommendation in stride with a thoughtful smile. She asked all the right questions (never too many, contrary to what... she may believe!). So many #barriers to overcome (you wouldn’t believe me if I listed them). Some more difficult than others. She knocked them out one at a time, each time asking what’s next. #Determination and #hope kept this mama striving for her dream. She kept asking me to help. I kept answering her call. She did all the hard work. I wanted to share this story to remind everyone to keep at it. Don’t be afraid to push your practitioners (including me!) to help you realize your goals. I have the tools to figure it out and you have the tools to carry it out. Sending all my blessings to this family and to all the others I’ve had a hand in supporting over the years. Imagine that. Half of the #DNA that gets integrated into the embryo matters to fertility. Half of the DNA is in the #egg, the other half is in the #sperm. Makes sense to get sperm tested, right? Overall number, #motility (how many are swimming) and #morphology (quality) of sperm are important to conceiving, especially when trying at home. All of these parameters can be improved by #lifestyle and #dietary modifications as well as #supplements. Get tested and corrected!... #spermhealth #spermmatter #ittakestwo #fertility #infertility #fertilitydiet #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont

You #cry when your soup spills. You get #angry when things don’t go exactly right at work. Life feels #heavy. You could #sleep all day and still feel #tired. People start whispering, Oh, it must be that time of month. Which makes you more angry. Because you know you’re not yourself. Is it normal to have a period twin that comes out and changes your life for 2 weeks every month? Nope!... #PMDD is real. It’s hormonal. And you can make it better. You don’t need to feel like the world is crashing down. It’s all about supporting that lovely #hormone #progesterone. In a few weeks, that twin will be long gone #premenstrualdysphoricdisorder #healthyhormones #hormonediet #pmddawareness #periodproblems #progesteronedeficiency #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #ldnont
