An exciting little tease for something very cool coming soon. Thanks for Kiwanis AleFest for inviting me along for the ride and for Saltchuck Creative for the beautiful design I know you will all love.
Remember how pretty it was before all the snow melted then froze then melted then froze then had sand put all over it then melted again? *sigh*
I’m a bit biased but Two Rivers Gallery has to be one of the most interesting and beautiful buildings downtown, right? Especially during Friday’s full on snowstorm.
IT IS HERE. My Northern BC 2021 basic calendar is now for sale on my website! Order BEFORE Monday at 9:00am for the pre-order discount. You save some $ and I can expedite your order - WE ALL WIN. This calendar is the perfect blend of my favourite Northern BC photographs from 2020 with some creative basic stylings layered on top. This calendar is best enjoyed on your favourite pinterest wall, alongside a beautiful wicker plate, and sipping anything with pumpkin spice. Just ...a note that I will do my best to get these in your hand before Dec. 25, however processing and shipping times are incredibly unpredictable this year so it is not a guarantee. *edit* I realized the mock up says 2020. The actual order WILL say 2021. https://www.drigophotography.ca//d-rigo-photography-basic-
If you haven’t noticed yet, it’s colourful puffy jacket season up in thiiiiis. (The alternative caption I was thinking was New dock, who dis?)
Any time headshots can be done outside a studio setting and incorporate some elements of the community that they’re set in, I’m so much more into them. I think place is as important as subject. And I mean, it certainly doesn’t hurt that our subject is this handsome fella.
The reasons we have Remembrance Day in Canada can sometimes feel really far away from places like Prince George. Stories like this can help bring the experience of the war a bit closer to us and remind us why we must remember those who fought for the free world we now live in. I’m grateful for Brink Group of Companies inviting me in to help create this video highlight of John Brink’s story.
I wanted to provide a bit of an update today on where my focus is at right now so please bear with this longish post. Our recent trip out to Jasper provided me with a really great opportunity to reflect on the state of things at D. Rigo Photography (which is a business but is also just me and my anxious brain) - where I’m at and where I’m going. The summary of it all is that I’m going to be refocusing a lot on the exact place I started this whole business. With wedding se...ason behind us, my natural love of commercial, and travel photography - all aimed at helping tell the story of the amazing things happening in this region. I’m currently working through some details right now but I think there’s some cool stuff in the works here and I’m hoping to have some more details very soon. I’m excited. Ps happy Election Day. Try to be kind to yourself and the brutal news cycle today. Take a break from it all if you need to.
I don’t mean to get too symbolic on y’all but this weird tree growing out of a tree growing out of the roots of a tree felt oddly like a visual metaphor for 2020 and how we can move forward. Maybe our best tree is still to come. Or not. I don’t know. But I hope it is. Anyways. Happy Halloween.
So over the weekend, thanks pretty much entirely to having some of my photographs featured on Destination BC, we have about a couple hundred new faces here! WELCOME. Brittany and I are just getting back to normal life this week after a weekend away but let me assure you that our little weekend trip out to the Rockies was incredible and there's some amazing shots to come. Mountains. Coffee. Colourful puffy jackets. Just you wait. Anyways - enough rambling. Happy Monday. To all my PG folks - I hope you enjoy this winter storm and 25cm of snow we're sitting in.
Something entirely new for this page. B and I decided to make a trip out to Jasper, Alberta for their Annual Dark Sky Festival and last night, we braved the -18 and Arctic outflow to go take some astrophotography photos in one of Canada’s most scenic dark sky preserves. I’m a bit new to astrophotography so I wasn’t sure what to expect but immediately, I was just blown away by what I was seeing in the back of the camera. I’ll post the before and afters so y’all can see how little editing is actually done on these to make them pop. It’s a big universe out there, and these really make you realize what’s up there. This was an incredible thing to experience and, because of the times we are living in, it’s worth noting we’ve done our absolute best to make this a 0 contact trip and socially distant at all times.
