A few steps forward in recent days as gear kits have arrived from Kalmar for assembly. Here is a 6spd Audi 01E dog box for Jeff Gerner's race car which will be competing in standing 1 mile races. Careful consideration was put into the gear ratios for this setup which are as follows: 1. 2.8 2. 1.923 3. 1.294 4. 0.95... 5. 0.809 6. 0.75 Final Drive is OEM A few modifications have been made to accommodate the kit which include relieving reverse gear for clearance, improving the detent action of the grooves on the shift fork rods, clearance the case for larger gears and bore a concentric recess in the FYF bellhousing for the 5cyl engine stud. The next step is setting up the preload on the large main shaft tapered bearings. The pinion gear engagement and backlash will remain as the same as that is not changing. Tear down complete on this Audi 01E 6spd gear box. As expected, seized 1-2 collar; typical issue with these.

If you don't know what you're looking at you better pay someone that does.
