Canada, and the world, is in mourning today having lost the ultimate "hockey dad" Walter Gretzky. Wayne said it better than anyone else: "He taught me the basics of life as far as schooling, as far as how I treated people," Wayne said in a 1996 interview with CBC-TV. "I don't think there's any question in my mind I wouldn't be playing professional hockey if it wasn't for him."... We will miss you Walter. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model for us all. Thank you for reminding us that losing is OK, that having fun is what it's all about, that treating people with kindness and respect is paramount. May the world learn from the lessons this man taught us all.

Today is anti-bullying day. Look for the signs.if you are being bullied or see bullying, talk to your parents, teacher, coach, sibling or friend. There are different types. ... Bullying is NOT cool.. stop it when you see it. 1 - Verbal bullying name-calling, sarcasm, teasing, spreading rumours, threatening, making negative references to one’s culture, ethnicity, race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, unwanted sexual comments. 2 - Social Bullying mobbing, scapegoating, excluding others from a group, humiliating others with public gestures or graffiti intended to put others down. 3 - Physical Bullying hitting, poking, pinching, chasing, shoving, coercing, destroying or stealing belongings, unwanted sexual touching. 4 - Cyber Bullying using the internet or text messaging to intimidate, put-down, spread rumours or make fun of someone. #antibullying #antibullyingday #antibullyingweek #antibully #antibullyingcampaign

Hockey is back and we couldn’t be happier.

Back in October 2019, @chris_robbl2s and I were carpooling our kids to baseball training at @peakperformanceathletics During the rides we would talk about many things, including business ideas. One of those nights, Chris said what about selling customized license plate covers to sports associations. Immediately, I looked at him and said that’s a fucking great idea, but in order for it to work we need to scale it. From that moment we started to work on our idea, of crea...ting a sense of pride for families of athletes. After weeks of deliberation, we came up with the name License To Sport. Luckily, the domain and business name were available and we registered our site last winter. Since that time we have been slowly working on this, in between our day jobs and running our kids around to sports. Things were coming along extremely well, so well we met at my house on March 11 to continue to plan our launch. We were so excited we took videos of unpacking our first order and created a YouTube channel. A couple hours later, our phones were lighting up with news of cancellations / closures / sports teams cancelling their season. Covid-19 was starting to shut everything down! No sports? Not a great time to launch a sports related business. Instead of burying our heads in the sand, we made a conscious decision to continue moving forward despite the challenges in front of us. We decided to slow things down and took this challenge as an opportunity to make sure we were doing things right. Over the last few months we continued to work on our website, processes, distribution, infrastructure and building out our customer database. I am proud to say that we are now officially open for business and our first orders have been coming in. Thanks to @ehmha.ca and the @haltonhillsminorbaseball for being our first customers. This is proof to me that if you set out a vision and work towards it, it will happen. The key is to never give up, regardless of what challenges you face. I read a quote once that over 90% of new businesses fail because the entrepreneur gives up too early. Follow us on @licensetosport to follow our journey.
