Ok, everyone. A reminder that as of September 1, laws take effect on our Ontario roadways.. All part of Bill 31, passed in June. 1. Distracted driving. If you are caught texting/talking/ or just looking at your phone, it will cost you $490, and 3 demerit points. G1/G2 drivers face an immediate licence suspension. Rememeber this is even if you are stopped at a red light. 2. Pedestrian interaction. Effective Jan. 1, 2016, you must wait until pedestrians fully cross over the cr...ossover and at school crosswalks. The old half road practice is no longer acceptacle. About half of pedestrian collisions occur at crossovers. 3. Passing cyclist. You are required to pass with a 1 meter space cushion whenever possible. Strangely, the penalties for this infraction have yet to be determined. Remember, you cannot pass motorcyclists in the same lane. Openning your car door in the path of an oncoming bicyclist is now $365 and 3 demerit points. Bicylclists also face a hefty monetary face for not having a light on their bikes at night. 4. Move over law. Whenever possible, you must lane change around stopped emergency vehicles with red/blue flashing lights. This now extends to emergency vehicles with yellow lights. Think tow trucks. Failure to do so will cost you $495 and 3 demerit points. 5. Alcohol and drugs. Get caught driving under the influence of a prescription drug and you will now face the same penalties as an impaired driver. This means a licence suspension of 3-90 days and a one week vehicle impoundment. About half of fatalities on Ontario roads involve a drug of some type. There you have it. You have been duly informed. Can't plead ignorance now! Lets all do our parts to make Ontario roadways even safe. Joyful motoring.

We only use course teachers with university degees. Our present teacher has over 22 yrs of classroom experience, and has appeared in the Toronto Star. This reflects our insistence on quality. 8.
