Its easy to discount time. Ill get to that next week, next year, in 5 years...its on the bucket list. How often do we look back only to realize it never happened and you either feel that pain of regret or you tell yourself those things or experiences were never that important to you anyway.... We carry on with our ground hog day life. I had been there, dreaming of opening a Life By Design Centre one day, having a family one day and building a modern home one day. Then I met someone on an elevator in California who pushed me from my comfort zone, asked me the hard questions like why not? and herself decided to, against most advice, jump head first into world she could never have know would be so wonderfully crazy. Today we celebrate 5 years of The Life By Design Centre... Thank you to our community whom have completely and fully embraced us, our families and to each each other ... I love you @mcdanerdanes. In that time, weve added 2 extraordinary kids, Charlies Café, grown a fantastic team, built the house, lost a parent and overcome most of the challenges along the way. Its not without dedication and extreme effort... but were stronger, healthier and happier today than ever. Im grateful and content. Does being an associate mean being a "doormat" or can it be an opportunity for accelerated growth and development? Is hiring an associate a big pain in the &$s or could it be a rewarding experience sharing your knowledge while also scaling your practice's impact? It depends on your goals, the quality of the environment, the quality of the people involved, timelines, compensation etc. etc. etc. Absolutely, when it goes wrong, being or hiring an associate can be a total disaster. Low compensation, no training, toxic practice environment in the associate's case and extreme entitlement, poor work ethic and lack of knowledge in the doc's case. But when it goes good...it can be great :) A well laid out, well developed Doctor - Associate Doctor relationship can be an incredible win - win situation. One that will 10X+ the results for both parties. I've experienced it myself in my own practice. In fact, I'd say you'd be very hard pressed to find a faster more efficient way to grow your practice and as an associate, grow your skills, capabilities and knowledge than to be an associate in the right situation. We love it as a model so much that we're always keeping our eyes open for the next great chiropractor to step in and grow. In my experience, the relationship doesn't need to be a lifetime commitment on either end to deliver incredible results, only long enough for both to benefit. For the docs operating their own shop... consider this model if you're ready for and want to grow beyond your current capacity. For docs still trying to figure out what's next or who know they have the passion but just need more training...it's your fastest, least expensive route to travel.

Communication is at the heart of everything from marketing to conversion and retention. Theres really not a single interaction on- or off-line that isnt improved by strengthening your abilities to communicate. What I find interesting is that very few doctors actually practice this fundamental component to their practice success. This is of obvious value to you, the chiropractor, as learning to simplify your communication (including your table talk) to a population that understands very little about the benefits of your service could be just the catalyst you need for growth.
