Children and teenagers grieve in ‘waves’ in both the short and long term The intensity, duration and frequency of these ‘waves’ is not linear or predictable.This applies to special days and milestones as well. Some people may experience the second year as more difficult - once the fog or numbness of grief has lifted and reality has settled in. Many have noticed periodic bursts of intense grief that is dependent on the child or adolescent’s development, the part...icular year, and the things that are happening in their lives.
