With either of these, other symptoms may include: . Weight Gain or loss Fatigue almost daily Difficult to concentrate or indecisive alot ... Depressed mood most days and throughout the day. Decreased interest in pleasure in most activities- this occurs almost daily. Insomnia or Sleep too much Feeling worthless or excessive guilt about things. Stress will have a huge effect on anxiety- it triggers our adrenaline response. If adrenaline/cortisol increases over time we get a new "normal" of adrenaline in our system- this perpetuates the anxiety and create more worry. . Stress is part of the worry. . But its our thoughts and perception of the stress that generate this worry- the what-ifs- this triggers an adrenaline response. Then our sabatoers in ourselves and our judge inside who is telling us what we should... be doing perpetuate the what-ifs . The more we let our thoughts go out of control- the more cortisol we are stimulating- the more anxious we get. . BUT- if we can manage these thoughts- the cortisol can be managed. I find we can use natural remedies to help manage the cortisol/adrenaline response- things like theanine, passionflower, tilia herbs to calm the system- so we can intercept these thoughts easier- bring awareness to them- and then practice talking ourselves down from those what- ifs, the shoulds, the negative self talk. #anxiety #stressduringtheholidays #xmasiscoming #stressandfamily . . . #yycnd #mentalhealth #mentalhealth2020 #helpeachother #natural #naturopathicdoctor See more

Did you know diet can create feelings of anxiety or depression? If we have too many starchy foods or sugar this can increase our blood sugar causing a rebound effect where insulin is released then our blood sugar drops. Its this drop in sugar that can often make us feel anxious or depressed. It can also decrease our energy and cause brain fog which is often experienced in depression. . DIET is the first aspect of care I work with people on if they’re feeling anxious or d...epressed. I know what you’re thinking- if you’re depressed or anxious sometimes it can be hard to prep food and/or follow a healthy diet. So how about we take baby steps towards this alongside supplements to support physically so that you begin to feel better and find it easier to prep/follow a nutritious diet? . I hear the relief in a client’s voice when I say lets take it one step at a time making small changes vs a strict diet that is hard to follow. I meet the person where their at and work from there. #mentalhealthdiet #depression #anxiety #perimenopause . . . #nutrition #yycnaturopath #setintentions #createhealth #create #IBS #IBSnatural #SIBO #anxiety #depression #perimenopause #menopause #alberta #health See more

When do feelings of anxiety need attention and help? We all feel anxious at times- but if there is a consistent or out-of-control worry that is there more often than not- this is something worth checking into. . Other symptoms of anxiety include: Irritability Restlessness or on-edge ... Difficult concentration Easily fatigued Muscle tension . If we feel 3 or more of these consistently these can all be part of anxiety. . There are many natural solutions for anxiety. I find coupling nutritional, herbal or homeopathic support with diet therapy and working with a therapist on mental/emotional aspects can make profound changes in a person’s ability to manage anxiety! I teach clients how they can manage mental health through natural approaches or alongside conventional medication. I have a focus area in my practice on anxiety, depression and stress management that I have worked diligently in the last 13 years on developing for clients. . In my Clinical experience, I have seen MANY natural approaches work to support our mental health. I strive to provide a toolkit to my clients of a variety of tactics including herbal, homeopathics an...d vitamins supplements, lifestyle management techniques and nutritional diet support. You have choice in your mental health and I invite you to explore natural options. . I also recognize that sometimes both natural and conventional medicine like anti-depressants through an MD are needed- sometimes we need to integrate both together- I have experience in this area working alongside an MD’s prescription with natural supplements. . I also see the power of working with a therapist (psychologist) to help people gain skills and an understanding of what triggers them in their stress and their coping skills that affect mental health. I have a network of therapists around Calgary in private practice that we provide care together as a team. We refer to each other on the regular and work mutually together as a health team to help serve clients on different levels of their mental health. . If you are suffering with anxiety, depression or stress and would like some tools to navigate- I’m your coach and ND! I have built a practice and wealth of experience from a natural and integrative approach in mental health. This is a passion of mine as I work to spread the word in my community that there are many different natural approaches to put in our toolkit for our mental health. . This pandemic has challenged our mental health on some level in many different ways I am here to serve and support my community as we navigate through this pandemic together! #mentalhealth #anxiety #depression #stress. . . . #calgarynaturopath #yycnaturopath #yyc #womeninleadership #community #makeadifference #connection #learning #perimenopause #naturopath See more
