At this time the difficult decision has been made to close our clinic from March 20th - April 5th. We want to do our part to help flatten the curve and ensure our patients and staff remain safe. If you would like to reschedule your appointments, that can be done online at www.healinghandslacombe.com. If you require a refill on any supplements or would like to schedule a naturopathic follow-up appointment via telephone consult during the closure, please email [email protected] and we will set up a date and time. Thank you so much to all our patients and staff for your support!

What is Prolotherapy? An injection based therapy to treat chronic pain. How does it work?... Put simply, the prolo solution is injected into the area where the patient experiences chronic pain, and the body’s inflammatory process (the way your body heals itself) is stimulated to send white blood cells to this area to clean up problem areas, and create new, healthy tissue. What’s in prolo solution? 1. Lidocaine/Procaine -Stops muscle spasms -Increases creatine uptake, allowing the muscles to become stronger and less likely to be re-injured. -Resets nerves that are malfunctioning and chronically causing pain. 2. Dextrose -a sugar the body uses to produce soft tissue structures. 3. Adenosine-5-monophosphate - calms chronic inflammation typically caused by bursitis, tendinitis, etc. -dissolves bone spurs and other calcium deposits. 4. Vitamin B12 -repairs nerve function. Interested in trying prolotherapy for your chronic pain? Call the clinic today!

Often people will come into our office with an MRI that shows disc herniation, disc protrusion or bulging disc, or degenerated discs. The MRI is all about the d...isc, disc, and disc. Most people who injure their back significantly enough to visit a health care provider think that this injury is an acute event. For those of us in the regenerative medicine field, for the many patients we see, this is an acute event that sits on top of years of degenerative wear and tear. The straw has finally broken the camel’s back or, in this instance, the sacroiliac joint. See more

Almost every new patient that inquires about Prolotherapy Injections asks the same question: What is the difference between Prolo injections and the cortisone ...injections that my doctor suggested? And the answer is pretty much everything, beyond the fact that they are both injections. Inflammation is the natural process in the body that stimulates healing of tissues. In my opinion, the word inflammation gets a bad rap. Most people believe it’s always a bad thing or that it’s always associated with infection. Sometimes, that IS true! But there’s also specific kinds of acute inflammation that is healthy and necessary for your body to heal itself. It becomes dangerous when it’s chronic, or when there’s so much that it damages surrounding tissue. Cortisone is a steroid that is used to bring immediate relief to patients experiencing musculo-skeletal pain, by inhibiting inflammation in that area. Obviously, it’s great to get immediate pain relief and this makes it a seemingly easy choice. But cortisone fails to bring any long term benefit to the injury. It acts more like a bandaid and doesn’t address why the inflammation was in that area in the first place. Some risks include further injury to the area because it’s now pain-free (but not repaired), and there’s quite a bit of credible research showing that long term cortisone use can do damage to the composition of tendons, ligaments and bone matter. Prolotherapy is an injectable solution that STIMULATES the inflammatory process, which signals your body to heal the area into which it is injected. That means your body begins to generate more tissue in the area to fix the injury! Yes, the results aren’t immediate, but the results are far more comprehensive in the long run. Instead of putting a bandaid on that injury and trying to forget about it, you’ll be helping your body to create stronger tissue. I’m not saying CORTISONE=BAD and PROLOTHERAPY=GOOD. I’m saying that sometimes you’re going to have enough pain to get to the point where cortisone might be what you need to keep your sanity. But I also hope that you’ll investigate better and less damaging long term treatment options so you actually improve the prognosis of your injury!
