~ ~ also known as proliferation therapy, is form of , an injection therapy technique that works with your body to , , . . Often times the pain in our joints is due to instability and improper mobility as a result. When a joint is not being held in place properly (for a variety of reasons), this results in aches, pains, limited range of motion and an unhealthy wear and tear of the area and surrounding t...issue. . Prolotherapy is an injection of a dextrose solution and an anesthetic to help stimulate a local inflammatory response to repair areas of the body that do not usually get the same blood flow as our muscles do. , as opposed to just scar tissue, we attempt to help your body regain tensile strength back in tendons and ligaments, thus reducing and sometimes eliminating joint pain. . Prolotherapy attempts to even ease the discomfort of some osteoarthritic pain. . Unlike cortisone injections that not only mask the pain, but a new study in the journal of Radiology found that they could potentially accelerate arthritis in the long run, prolotherapy (regenerative approach) works with you to make your weak and damaged tissues strong and pain free again . Along with diet and a healthy lifestyle, prolotherapy can be another tool in your tool-belt to regaining a quality of life that you enjoy, -, . . Book in a & with myself if you would like to discuss your situation more in depth and see if prolotherapy could be appropriate for you. . Sunscreen confusion? (scroll photos for some safer options-can order from well.ca) . Confused as to which sunscreens will not only keep you and your littles safe from the harmful effects from the sun, but also have ingredients that pose fewer health concerns? ... The EWG Environmental Working Group, has done a great job sorting through the sunscreen isle and providing you with a list of top-ranked sunscreens for kids, and for sport/beach days. Generally, you want to: AVOID oxybenzone, Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate), Added insect repellent, sprays, powders, SPF above 50. LOOK FOR Zinc oxide, avobenzone, mexoryl SX, creams, broad-spectrum, water resistant, and SPF that suits your needs (15-50). For more information on the harmful chemicals in some sunscreens, or to read their full report and how they created their lists, visit www.ewg.org/sunscreen/ You can also download their Healthy Living App to help you choose in the moment. . #naturopathicmedicine #naturecure #healthandwellness #safesunscreen #revynaturopathic #therealstoke #revelstoke #ewg #revelstokeosteopathyandwellness #medicineforthewholefamily #naturopathicprimarycare #rootcausemedicine #naturopathicdoctor #healthyliving #naturopath #foodasmedicine #healthandwellness #health #weightloss #holistic #herbnerds #botanicalmedicine #IVtherapy #acupuncture #homeopathy @ Revelstoke Osteopathy & Wellness See more

\\Surround me in lavender. Nourish Resiliency.\\ . \\Some days you will feel hopeful, energized, and ready to tackle this new normal. \\Other days, you will want to throw your yoga mat across the room, stay in your Pjs, and cry over these new rules around living your life. And that's ok. .... You are not alone, riding these waves of emotions, nor are you alone feeling tossed around with the ebbs and flows of uncertainty. . Reach out to friends, reach out to family, reach out to me, reach out to nature, and even better, reach out to the things nature has provided to help us through these times. . Nature has created amazing botanicals that nourish and restore your nervous system, modulate your immune response, calm or support your stress response, and ultimately help us to be more RESILIENT. . There are some amazing tools out there to support our systems and comfort our sweet beings, as well as some shockingly perfect herbs for times like these. One of them is Lavender. Lavendula officinalis, we are lucky enough to see this plant often, and recognize it, but it can be a safe and simple starting point that you can easily lean on in times like these. A nervous system relaxant, an anti-depressant, calming, vulnerary, rubefacient, and anti-microbial. The essential oil often used in a diffuser, in a bath, on your pillow at night. Rub a little on your wrist or piece of clothing and have a little sniff when anxious through the day. The dried herb can be infused in a tea, about a tsp per cup, about 3x/day. PRO TIP: for minor burns, put lavender essential oil on as soon as possible and it will barely get red let alone blister (as long as you do not have a sensitivity to this oil). Avoid excessive use in early pregnancy as is a uterine stimulant, and do not ingest the essential oils. Reach out if you need to, your friendly naturopathic doctors are here for you. @drkimniddery @gossl . **This is not medical advice. This is general information and a medical professional or someone trained in medical herbalism should be consulted with personally before starting anything new to make sure that it is right and safe for you. As isolating as isolation is, you are not alone. . Please reach out if you feel inclined. \\ Post-Concussion Support is a very important topic to me and it is also where I find people feeling left at a loss about what steps they can take to heal and feel better, other than just resting. There is much more research and support out there! And still much more we are learning! . Current or even past concussions can benefit from support. Traumatic brain injuries (especially repeated)can have subtle and lingering effects that could potentially lead to what may seem lik...e unrelated symptoms later in life. Mild concussions often will heal well with solid mental and physical rest in the first 10-21 days after the incident. Others that persist, or involve loss of consciousness (LOC), may require much longer rest, and some of those might even develop PCS, or post-concussion syndrome. . If you or someone you know is concerned, or has a history of multiple concussions, or is suffering from a recent concussion (I do not treat acute head injuries, please visit urgent care first), send me a message and we can set up a 15min FREE meet & greet to discuss how integrative and naturopathic medicine may aid in your brain health. . REST. Physically and mentally. NUTRITION & BOTANICALS - To support the nervous system, decrease inflammation, support cerebral blood flow, prevent plaque formation, and supply the proper food for healing brain cells and neural connections. Not only the proper foods, herbs and supplements, but at the therapeutic doses necessary. COUNSELLING - For some, the injury came along some sort of trauma and working with a train professional to help heal the emotions and release them will also help you heal physically. PHYSICAL THERAPY - To support torn or strained supportive structures, help heal the nervous system, prevent chronic pain, and build back connective tissue integrity. OTHERS- include but are not limited to Functional Neurology re-training, essential oils, IV nutrient therapy, cold laser therapy, acupuncture, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, endocrine supports, etc . #naturopathicmedicine #concussionrecovery #concussions #naturecure #foodasmedicine #brainhealth #revelstoke #therealstoke #revelstokewellness #naturopathicdoctor See more

Its Fire Cider Season! . What is fire cider and what is it used for? . Fire cider is a traditionally used immune boosting remedy. Basically it's a herbal and nutrient infusion of apple cider vinegar packed with powerful immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and circulatory herbs.... . This is great to prevent colds and flus in the winter months, or even help fight one off. It works as a decongestant and expectorant when the cold has set in. Not only an immune tonic, homemade fire cider also stimulates digestion and helps moves circulation throughout the body and to the periphery (which helps keep us warm on cold winter days!). . I tend to sip a shot glass a day of this hot stuff beginning in mid-autumn and throughout the winter months, so I am a little late this year preparing mine. Skeptical? Try it! . Other uses: Rub into sore muscles and aching joints, use it as a cough syrup when mixed with honey, even add to a Sunday Ceasar ;) . Making a human takes a lot out of you! Literally! . Did you know that mom brain or baby brain is definitely a real, physiological change, where your body resculpts a womans brain for at least 2 years! . Some of the grey-matter does shrink, but not necessarily as a loss, but as a way that be of benefit and specialization. Your body is preparing you for shifting your focus for caring for your offspring. ... . On top of all of that, when your baby was growing inside you, it was tapping into your stores of iron, zinc, vitamin B12, vitamin B9, iodine, and selenium storesalong with omega 3 fats like DHA and specific amino acids from proteins. . Adding in stress of childbirth, the sleep deprivation, the hormonal swings etc, it can make it understandably difficult for some women to get back on their feet (hormonally, nutritionally, and emotionally). . This post-natal period is where moms need that added support even more-so. They are so hypervigilant to the needs of their child, that their own needs fall to the side, eventually leading to a burnout feeling, that no-one but other moms sometimes seem to understand. . Some symptoms can be: Fatigue and exhaustion. Tired on waking. Falling asleep unintentionally. Hyper-vigilance (a feeling that the radar is constantly on), which is often associated with anxiety or a sense of unease. I often hear the words tired and wired describing how mothers feel. Sense of guilt and shame around the role of being a mother and loss of self-esteem. This is often associated with a sense of isolation and apprehension and sometimes even fear about socializing or leaving the house. Frustration, overwhelm, and a sense of not coping. I often hear mothers say: There is no time for me. As mentioned, brain fog or baby brain. Loss of libido. . Naturopathic doctors can be fantastic in helping you move through this time in life. By focusing on markers of health such as sleep, nutrition, hormones, activity, direction, mood etc, we can work with you in repleting, re-building your system back up, and optimizing your recovery. . #womenshealthweek #naturopathicmedicine #postnatal #hormonehealth #revelstokemoms #revelstoke See more

@drmeghanwalker Depression is usually a symptom of something else. Have you been told this information? Here are just some of the reasons that depression can manifest. ... Nutrient deficiencies Drug interactions Inflammation Diabetes Stress Loneliness Hormonal imbalances Poor boundaries Physical and emotional trauma Pregnancy Post-partum Poor blood sugar management Adrenal fatigue Auto-immune conditions Vitamin D deficiency Lack of exercise Lack of purpose Dehydration Lack of fat in the diet Iron deficiency (anemia) Hypothyroidism Food intolerances Actual sadness because life has thrown you a curve ball. That should help get you started... You deserve the opportunity to address the root cause of your health. When you mask a symptom, the disease moves elsewhere. Did you know magnesium deficiency is one of the most frequently encountered nutritional problems? . . . Magnesium is a cofactor for more than 300 different enzymes! That means that without magnesium or not having enough, many of your bodys daily processes are not functioning as optimally! (i.e. neuronal activity, cardiac excitability, and electrical properties of cell membranes).... . . . . As part of an integrative approach to your health care magnesium may be used for addressing and/or preventing a wide range of conditions: Cardiac arrhythmias, Raynauds, brittle nails, hearing loss, constipation, fibromyalgia, migraines, restless-legs, period cramps, anxiety, depression, CPOD, kidney stones, and fatigue to name just a few! . Common symptoms of mild to moderate magnesium deficiency can include: anxiety, depression, fatigue, insomnia, irritability, panic attacks, muscle cramps and twitches, chest tightness, memory loss, heart palpitations, headaches, and more. . Exposure to stress, both physical and emotional has a very detrimental impact on your magnesium levels/concentration likely due to things like cortisol and its effects on your kidneys (help regulate your magnesium), this decreased magnesium in your cells then also makes you more susceptible to the adverse effects of stress. Leading to what can be a viscous cycle. . Other things that can lower your magnesium is alcohol use, certain medications, chronic diarrhea, malabsorption, prolonged vomiting, ischemic heart disease, congestive heart failure, COPD, cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, certain kidney diseases and some hormone disorders. Also common just after giving birth. . There is no universally reliable method of testing magnesium status in those who are not severely deficient. Blood tests of magnesium are often normal in people with a deficiency, and is therefore unreliable, unless your deficiency is severe. . Even though we need it in our body, you want to be careful taking it as even though something is natural, it does not mean it is safe for everyone all the time. - Dr. Alan Gaby - Nutritional Medicine . #dralangaby #nutritionalmedicine #naturopathicmedicine #foodasmedicine See more
