Due to the weather, all IN PERSON appointments are cancelled for today. Phone visits will be as per scheduled appointment!

Notice to patients of Dr. Melanie MacNeil at Harvest Tides Family Practice: We have been seeing patients in clinic WHEN NECESSARY and will continue to do so, until otherwise directed from the Department of Health. This being said, PHONE CALL appointments are the safest option while we are still dealing with COVID19 and see the beginnings of a second wave. It is up to the discretion of your physician to decide what appointments need to be seen in clinic and when it is more ap...propriate to have phone call. When booking, we appreciate your respect of our reception staff when they offer you an in clinic or virtual appointment. All patients will be required to have Covid 19 Screening done prior to coming for their SCHEDULED appointments in person made by Dr. Melanie MacNeil. It is VERY important to answer these questions honestly. These questions will include: Covid Screening Questions 1. Fever? 2. Cough or worsening or a previous cough? OR Any two of the following 1. Sore Throat 2. Headache 3. Shortness of Breath 4. Runny Nose If all above are NO: Have you been outside Atlantic Canada in the past 14 days? Do you have a swab pending or tested positive for Covid 19? Have you been in close contact with a suspected case in the past 14 days? Have you been in one of the identified potential exposure sites as per Public Health?

NEW APPOINTMENT INFORMATION APPOINTMNENT LENGTH Regular Visits with Dr. MacNeil are scheduled for 10 minutes. If you have several concerns, we ask that you call the office and advise the secretary and we will do our best to book a longer appointment. Providing a good medical assessment can often take up a whole visit, so we welcome you to make a follow-up visit for any concerns we are not able to get to at your appointment.... SAME DAY ACCESS Dr. MacNeil keeps Same Day appointments available daily to ensure patients have good access to our clinic. These appointments are usually reserved for urgent issues only. These appointments are available by calling the secretary and being assessed. If all the same day appointments are filled, you may be directed to a local after-hours clinic at the Eastern Kings Memorial (EKM) Community Health Centre or Western Kings Memorial (WKM) Health Centre. If the clinical scenario indicates a need for emergency level care, you should seek assessment at Valley Regional Hospital Emergency Department.

Virtual Visits have been extended by the Department of Health and Wellness to December 31st, 2020. Your appointments with Dr. MacNeil will be phone appointments unless otherwise specified by the office. Please DO NOT come to the office without an appointment. Harvest Tides Family Practice is taking precautions and every patient that comes in, is Covid Screened prior to their arrival. We are experiencing a higher than usual number of calls and understand that it may be difficult to get through. Please consider sending any requests through HealthMyself patient portal. This ensures that patients that do not have internet access can get through easier using phone system. The phone number is now 902-915-4435, but our old phone number is being redirected to Harvest Tides Family Practice. We have a multi line phone system, so when you call - you will choose OPT...ION 2 for Dr. Melanie MacNeil. The system will allow 4 calls to be put through at a time, and will place you on hold if the secretary is on the phone. Many patients are able to get through as expected, but sometimes the phone seems to ring endlessly. Please try back at another time if this is your experience. Prescription Refills Please pay attention to your medications and plan so that you do not run out. It is the patients responsibility to keep track of their medications. In circumstances where you do run short and haven’t arranged a follow-up appointment, you can ask the pharmacist for a Continued Care Prescription. ... Dr. MacNeil will not call in a prescription without a telephone/in office appointment. As of now, we are booking two weeks away.
