Remind your kids how proud you are of them! We all love to be praised for our good work. As parents we should remember to provide this praise to our children when they need it most. This year has been especially stressful and has required a lot of adjustment for our kids. Let them know how proud you are of them to help them feel supported during difficult times. #parenting #mentalhealth #encouragement

Maybe all this change can be credited to the pandemic... but what if it isn't? Has your child been struggling to pay attention, listen attentively, or remember things? Have they been avoiding school work, constantly fidgeting, or talking excessively? If you've done your research and found that some of their behaviours are symptoms of ADHD, you might be right. Check it out on our new blog post here -> https://linktr.ee/Torontoneurofeedback

Offering advice to your child might not always be the solution! Parents want the best for their children, and providing advice is often the best form of guidance. However, sometimes this is not the most effective solution, and can create communication problems. One of the most effective ways to nurture your child’s mental health is by active listening. If you find your child struggling mentally, instead of providing solutions to a problem you see, focused attention and... listening can be the most helpful in making them feel supported. Active listening creates stronger bonds between a parent and child and helps them feel encouraged to seek support in the future. #parenttips #parenting #mentalhealth #kids

How can we resolve relationship conflict in healthy ways? No relationship is perfect; arguments are normal and help us learn things about our partners. However, when we get into arguments, there are several factors that can have an impact on how clearly we are thinking. If we are overly tired from a long day's work, or irritable from a lack of sleep, this will translate over into how we communicate during arguments. It is important to keep this in mind as a bitter mood could... make an issue worse. We can resolve conflict in more healthy ways by being clear-headed and understanding how our emotions impact our readiness to communicate. If there is an issue you are pushing to discuss, try postponing the discussion for a time when our rational thinking and emotional thinking aren’t in battle. #relationships #emotion #attachment #feelings #relationship advice

I feel like my partner doesn’t validate my feelings If you’ve ever found yourself saying these things, it is most important to be mindful of any criticism that you are using. It is difficult for someone to validate feelings when they feel accused. A helpful strategy is to describe the impact that your partners’ behaviour has on you. Try taking the criticism and accusation out of feelings in order to resolve relationship conflict. #relationships #relationshiptips #maritalconflict #love #communication #couples

Keeping a goal journal can be a very effective way to track your resolutions and help you organize your strategy. Setting aside 10-15 minutes a day to journal helps keep you committed to your goals and resolutions. You can think of it as a self-coaching session. If you are taking the time to journal you are also taking that time to think about your resolutions so you can better understand how you’re going to achieve them. On days you’re feeling discouraged a journal will allo...w you to look back on your entries, acknowledge the progress you’ve made and gain some encouragement. You can decide which format of journaling feels right for you whether you utilize the one of the journaling apps available on smartphones or good old fashioned pen and paper. #newyearsresolutions #journaling #journalsofsuccess #2021goalsetter #watchmegoal

We wish you a wonderful Christmas with your family today! During these unusual times, we hope everyone finds a unique and special way to celebrate the holiday!

Our social calendars have taken a backseat this season but there are many ways to stay connected with family and friends. We’ve all established some wonderful holiday traditions but this year it’s time to get creative. Organize a meal exchange and swap recipes so everyone can enjoy grandma’s famous stuffing. Or you could plan a Zoom dinner for that communal meal experience. How about making a shared Spotify playlist with some of your favorite festive songs and encouraging ev...eryone to get into their coziest PJs as they listen. A virtual gingerbread house contest is a sure way to kick everyone’s holiday spirit into gear. But most importantly stay positive and remember to have fun no matter how you choose to celebrate. #family&friends #christmascreativity #allIwantforchristmas #holidaysarecoming

The holidays are often viewed to be a joyful time of year filled with love, laughter and the distraction of gatherings, food and presents. But the reality is it can also be stressful for a lot of us. Finances come into play, the memories of loved ones who have passed and this year especially as we struggle to cope during the pandemic. Remember to take time for you! This could be as simple as a warm cup of tea by the fire, a hot bubble bath or some deep breathing. Take tim...e to meditate, acknowledge your feelings and prioritize your physical health by getting adequate sleep. Let’s put the me in merry and remember self-care happens all year not just the holidays. #holidaycheer #mentalhealthiswealth #selfcare #holidaymood #tistheseaon #snowplacelikehome
