Botox - what is it? Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) is actually a brand name of a specific injectable neuromodulator product. It is commonly used to describe all neuromodulator products (like Kleenex is used to describe all tissues). There are many different products currently on the market in Canada, including Dysport, Xeomin and Nuceiva. A neuromodulator is a natural protein that is derived from Clostridium botulinum (a bacterium) and purified. It blocks the signal from nerve t...o muscle, causing relaxation of the injected muscles and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
