Ugh, fatigue Am I right? The 3 most common causes of fatigue I see in practice are from - Insulin resistance - Low thyroid function ... - Anemia or nutrient deficiencies (ex: iron and B12) - Insomnia or poor sleep Today I want to unpack insulin resistance. Signs of insulin resistance include - Fatigue - Brain fog - PCOS or menstrual issues - Weight loss resistance - Anxiety - Difficulty staying asleep - Etc. So normally, you eat a meal, your blood sugar increases , your body produces insulin to take the sugar in your blood and move it into your cells so it can be used for fuel (like a fuel pump taking gas from the tank and giving it to the motor). Insulin resistance is when you cells stop acknowledging that insulin is present - like the wrong key to a lock . This leads to a build up of blood sugar and can be considered a pre diabetic state. This is where we see all the symptoms I mentioned above kick in! As someone who previously struggled with insulin resistance (a thin woman who eats relatively well) I learned that even wonderfully healthy foods can worsen this condition and leave you feeling even worse despite your best efforts. So how do we fix it? Everyone gets an individual approach but I teach you about foods that trigger insulin, when would be best timing for meals, supplementation to support healthy gut bacteria and blood sugar levels! Let me tell you, it feels unreal to know why I was so tiered and to be on the other side of that is amazing! See more

It’s official! I’m am back to work as of today! And oh boy did I ever miss it! I’m officially seeing patients again at Ezentials in person as well as virtually and over the phone. The goal is to make this transition to our new normal as seamless as possible! As part of returning to work things do look a little different. So what can you expect prior to your next visit to the clinic? ... Screening prior to your visit I will be wearing a mask and we encourage you to bring your own! Don’t sweat it if you don’t have one we’ll provide you with one We are cleaning the lounge, the bathrooms and clinic rooms after every use Chairs in the waiting lounge are 6 feet apart What doesn’t change Still a safe space for everyone Great patient care with a smile (even if you can’t see it, I’m so happy to see you) If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to DM me! I hope everyone is doing well all things considering. I’m announcing that I will not be seeing patients in practice until April 1 though this is subject to change as the situation changes. I will be offering telemedicine for the next few weeks to help support new and existing patients. If you currently have an appointment before April 1 you will be contacted by Ezentials today to rebook for April or switch to a telemedicine (privacy compliant video or phone) consult. Any ac...upuncture or LED treatments will be postponed until April at this time. If you are looking for support with stress, anxiety, general health and wellness at this time feel free to send me a direct message and we can get you booked in. Wishing you all the best Ps: don’t forget to practice self care, log out of social media, get outside, read a book, take a bath, cook a delicious (and nutritious meal), call friends/family, practice gratitude, colour, watch a movie, do what you gotta do to take care of yourself! You can’t give from an empty cup!
