Leaky gut = intestinal permeability Let’s break it down a bit the intestinal lining is extensive and equates to more then 4000 square feet of surface area ... when it’s intact and working properly, it forms a tight barrier, and has measures to control what gets absorbed from inside the intestines > into the bloodstream ie., food nutrients and water into the blood only please breaches in the integrity of the intestinal barrier, weaken this controlled absorption, and now allows unwanted partially undigested food particles, toxins, and microbes to enter the bloodstream. this is leaky gut... when the things we don’t want to be absorbing from inside the gut, are given a free pass to enter the blood stream from a damaged and faulty intestinal barrier. These things now have the potential to trigger immune reactionsand inflammationboth locally and systemically. Leaky gut may be associated with autoimmune conditions, brain fog, allergies, fatigue, joint pains, food sensitivities, chemical sensitivity, difficulty concentrating, skin problems (hives, eczema, rashes), nutrient deficiencies, chronic digestive issues and classic IBS symptoms. #dontsettleforshittyhealth #youarewhatyouabsorb #leakygut #passiveleakygut #intestinalpermeability #gutabsorption #bacterial #guthealth #digestion #dontneglectguthealth #malabsorption #toxins #foodsensitivities #naturopathicmedicine #headaches #autoimmune #immunehealth #IBS #allergies #jointpain #hives #rashes #brainfog #bloating #georgetown #haltonhills #etobicoke #longbranch #georgetownnaturopath #longbranchnaturopath See more

Most people don’t pay attention to their poops. I ask various questions about poop in practice, and the variety of confused or contorted looks I often get is comical . The truth is, bowel elimination is an important way to asses digestive function. As parents we check a newborns diapers and toddlers poops as a way of assessing health, but lose this habit as we gain independent and age. ... it feels gross and icky to think about it. I hear ya! I’m not asking you to stick your head in the bowl... just give things a quick look before you flush The ideal poop is easy to pass (no straining) a formed and solid 1-2 pieces smooth or with slight ridges see #3 and #4 on the Bristol Stool Chart on the next slide. medium to dark brown in colour does not contain undigested food particles ( except corn, most people cannot break down the kernel) does NOT come on with a strong sense of urgency or abdominal cramps/discomfort feels like a full and complete emptying does NOT stick to the bowl or leave marks on the porcelain upon flushing sinks to the bottom of the bowl does NOT feel slippery on wiping and does NOT have mucus in, or on it Also, we should have these types of healthy poops 1-3x/day, and the bowels should typically empty around the same times every day, as the body likes routine. For your poops, can you check off ALL of those items on the list with confidence?! Yes? That’s great No? If you feel like you consistently miss on even 1-2 (or more) of these check points, you could probably use some digestion TLC to reset, rebuild and strengthen your digestion. Book a free meet and greet through the link in my bio to explore this further Whether or not you have digestive concerns, I encourage you to pay attention to your poops. If you plan on working with a functional medical doctor or naturopathic doctors, be prepared for digestion and poop talk as part of the work up. All health starts in the gut. It plays a pivotal role in the health and healing of the whole body. See more

RESET - to set again or anew. To set, adjust or fix in a new or different way. It’s not just time to restart or reboot. It’s time to RESET. We cannot continue to do the same things and expect different results. We shouldn’t just keep repeating or looking to the past, and say we’ll if it ain’t broke..., cause that limits the possibility of better. Every inventor didn’t just say well things are fine as they are. NO, they saw the past as a learning tool and thought c...ritically, creatively and innovated. They strived for better, or optimal, for excellent. Fine sucks. Fine is not good enough. And frankly, things are not even fine at the moment. This have become more and more evident over the last several months. On a macro scale - things need to evolve and drastically change in our social systems, government, power and economic structures in a way that unifies, supports and respects all people (cause there is enough for EVERYONE to thrive). We need to more forward in love, NOT fear and ignorance. Also, great changes are needed in how we view and operate our current healthcare and food/agricultural industries. On a micro level...what no longer serves you? What must you let go of? How can you stop, press rest and evolve? In your health, are you just repeating what you always do and then continue to scratch your head wondering why you don’t wake up with energy, why symptoms and health issues keep popping up? Why you just don’t feel great? Or maybe things are getting worse? Changes don’t happen if you are not willing to ask different questions, look beyond the surface, dig deeper and have the courage to take mindful action (not just reaction). Is it time for a new approach to your health? Change is one of the only constants in this life. Go with it. Welcome it. #reset #itstimeforchange #evolve #thingscantchangeifyoudontchange #naturopathichealth #naturalhealth #anewperspective #anewapproach #anewsystem #digdeeper #asknewquestions #seeknewanswers #striveforbetter #etobiocoke #mimico #longbranch #yyz #georgetown #haltonhills #brampton #onehealthservices #elevatedhealthandwellness See more
