Understanding the timing of ovulation is vital in successful intercourse timing when trying to conceive. However, it is also important to ensure that ovulation is actually occurring. The 3 methods for confirming ovulation that are easily available to women are: -BBT charting - this can be done at home with a simple chart and thermometer -Proov tests - this is another at home test that detects a progesterone metabolite in the urine. These are available for patients to order th...emselves online (no affiliation, just a great fertility tool!) or - progesterone blood test - this is best performed 7 days after suspected ovulation. This can be ordered by NDs and MDs. #drmichellepayne #naturopathicfertility #TTC #fertilityndyyj #naturopathicmedicine #fertilityawareness #acaciahealth

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is estimated to affect 1.4 million Canadian women. Evidence strongly suggests that in addition to their presenting concerns during their reproductive age, women with PCOS have significant health risks including obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes and certain cardiovascular risk factors. The high prevalence of the disease means women need to be correctly diagnosed with PCOS and encouraged to be proactive in managing their risks to prevent or mitigate the consequences of this chronic disease. Do you have these symptoms? Stay tuned for how to diagnose PCOS! #pcosawareness #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicwomenshealth #PCOSnd #drmichellepayne #naturopathicfertility #preventativemedicine

PCOS is incredibly common, affecting 1 in 10 women. Not only does it cause unpleasant menstrual symptoms and fertility challenges, it is also highly correlated with type 2 diabetes later in life. Many women go years without being diagnosed. Check out my upcoming posts to learn more about PCOS. #drmichellepayne #naturopathicwomenshealth #naturopathicfertility #pcosyyj #naturopathicdoctoryyj #fertilityndyyj #pcossupport #pcosfertilitysupport

Infertility can feel so isolating, like you are speaking a different language, and in some cases, you may even be. But you are not alone. I understand your language and I want to hear about your journey. #drmichellepayne #naturopathicfertility #yyjfertility #infertilitysucks #lovewhatido #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicwomenshealth

This image is one of my favorite tools for helping women understand the hormonal changes that occur during their menstrual cycle and where things can get out of balance. #womenshealth #naturopathicwomenshealth #yyjnaturopathicdoctor #drmichellepayne #doctorasteacher #menstrualhealth #yyjnaturopathicfertility #infertilitysupport #pcossupport #pmssupport #menopausesupport

This preliminary study found that an inverse association was observed between total n-3 (Omega 3) polyunsaturated FAs and likelihood of fibroids. In addition, total trans FAs were associated with more odds of fibroids. #foodasmedicine #naturopathicwomenshealth #naturopathicmedicine #fibroids #fibroidsresearch #drmichellepayne #evidencebasedmedicine
