Encephalophathy is a known complication of Influenza. This healthy 4 year old unfortunately succumbed to acute necrotizing encephalophathy in the area of the brain that perceives sight, and she can no longer see. So many healthy children and adults succumb to these severe complications of Flu. Its not too late to get your Flu shot this year. Protect your loved ones today. FYI: You need to be older than 6 months to get the Flu shot. Parents of infants younger than 6 months should ensure every family member receives the vaccination to ensure optimal protection for your infant. A booster shot is required for all first time flu vaccinations for children 6 months to 9 years of age. https://edition.cnn.com//flu-blinds-iowa-girl-/index.html

POLIO is back :( There is no cure for polio. The virus invades the nervous system and can cause irreversible paralysis within hours. The only way to prevent this paralyzing disease is through immunizations. Vaccination rates need to be >95% for disease prevention. We continue to have a growing number of anti-vaxxers in our community(and worldwide) and previously eradicated diseases are now coming back in full swing. Make sure your children stay up to date with their immunizations and help spread awareness about the importance of immunizations today.
