If you’re living anywhere in bruce county, odds are you were surprised or when you saw your driveway this morning! With the blast of winter we’ve had in the last 24 hours there is no doubt you’ll be grabbing your shovels this morning! I want you to keep a few tips in mind while you’re out there moving snow:... 1) Get a warm up in! Even a quick walk around the block will do the trick get the blood pumping and warm up those muscles and joints before digging out. 2) Clear your driveway and walkways regularly! This will allow you to move smaller, lighter amounts of snow 3) Use a lightweight shovel! A lighter shovel means less stress and strain on your body 4) Push! Avoid throwing the snow by pushing it instead. This will mean less twisting and bending for your back 5) If you do have to lift snow over existing banks, bend at your knees and use your arms and legs to lift while keeping your back straight 6) Take your time. Allow yourself lots of time and take frequent breaks! Injuries are more likely to occur when you’re in a rush and neglecting form Any questions? Send me a message! Stay safe out there
