Back to work taking care of one of our patients who’s been waiting a long time. His cheerfulness made wearing all that PPE more tolerable!
Premier Horgan announced today that BC will begin Phase 2 of lifting Covid19 restrictions by Mid-May. Under ‘Enhanced Protocols’, small gatherings, K-12 classes, and various healthcare services will be restored. This does not mean we will return to normal social practices so the recommended hand washing and limits on travelling amongst other recommendations still apply. Our office is being equipped to ensure the safety of patients and staff against this new virus. In addition to the standard infection control protocols, new equipment, front desk shields, and full personal protective garments will be used. We look forward to seeing you again. Feel free to contact us for more information on what we will be doing differently.
The Provincial Health Officer requires all dental offices to close indefinitely except to provide essential and emergency services. Dental offices are required to perform a risk assessment on patients before treatment. Thank you for your cooperation as we all do our part to keep each other safe. The vast amount of news makes it confusing to determine what to do when one has travelled recently or if symptoms develop. The BC Center for Disease Control states that not everyone with symptoms needs to be tested for the Covid-19 virus. This will reduce the load on the health care system and allow the doctors and nurses to treat those with urgent needs. The BC CDC has a webpage to do a symptom self-assessment and to read what steps to take. Try it out to see when one needs to call 911 or go the hospital ER: https://covid19.thrive.health
From our office family to yours, we wish you a wonderful Christmas and a healthy New Year!
We value the special needs patients in our practice and their remarkable family members. Variety Children’s Charity has been campaigning this past week. https://www.facebook.com/variety.bc.ca/
Many patients are surprised by which foods and drinks are acidic and cause enamel erosion. Tooth sensitivity and decay can occur with their frequent consumption. Ask how to protect your teeth at your next check up.
This being World Refugee Day, I’d like to recognize my staff for volunteering their time over a few afternoons to treat a Syrian refugee family. Thank you for giving back to our community!

Our staff summer activity this year was the ‘Corn Mazing Race’. Teams had to work hard to figure out how to get through the maze. Corn on the cob and roasted marshmallows were waiting at the end!
Why did our office upgrade to digital xray sensors last year? From the American Dental Association: There are many benefits to using digital dental x-ray images, including: When the digital x-ray image is exposed, it can be sent directly to a computer and viewed right away. For x-ray film to be exposed, a staff member must process it in special chemicals. This takes a few minutes. Digital x-ray images can be enlarged on the computer screen. This makes it much easier for you ...and the dentist to see the pictures. Traditional x-ray films are viewed actual size. Digital x-ray images can often be corrected without having to make another x-ray exposure. The dental office can print or copy your digital x-ray images. They can also be sent electronically to insurance companies, which may help claims get processed faster. Digital x-rays are environmentally friendly. They eliminate the need for film and film processing chemicals. Digital x-ray images may require less radiation. See more
Name our clinic - Help our clinic find a new name to be used on our stationary and signage. The name should reflect our desire to provide a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere or describe the neighbourhood we are located in. Submit up to 5 suggestions to our email: [email protected] . The successful name submission will be awarded with a prize of a new Diamond Clean Smart electric toothbrush donated by Philips Sonicare. Management will choose the name and apply for registration approvals. If more than one person submits the same name, the earliest dated submission will be given the prize. Thank you for your suggestions!
