Happy Fathers Day!!! It wasn't hard for me to think of words that describe why I appreciate you SO MUCH in my life! So, I decided to write a poem for you like I did when I was a little kid!! To my one and only DAD: RESHAM S. OPPAL ... R: RATIONAL. You are Intelligent and Smart. You are a quick learner and ALWAYS one step ahead of the game. Your ability to troubleshoot is incredible. E: EQUALITY. You showed me how a relationship with your partner should be a: Partnership. I grew up watching you in the kitchen cutting the veggies for the evening's curry when you knew Mom needed a little extra help. S: SELFLESS. You provided me with the means for Limitless Opportunities even when your Father did not do this for you. You put your dreams on the backburner and worked tirelessly to build your empire so we could live out our dreams. H: HELPER. You’re the kind of man the pulls over to help a stranger fix their car. A: AMBITION. Lazy is the last thing you are. I still remember after you retired you would still wake up at 6 am to run all your errands (and of course walk everywhere just for an added challenge). Once you finished you’d be sitting in the living room with a cup of coffee planning what else you were going to do next. M: Motionless. You have a peaceful and tranquil energy to you that I have always admired. I know I've run out of letters but I have more to say! You are always available to listen to anything I have to say and give unbeatable advice until this day but with one exception: As long as it's not when the Vancouver Canucks are playing- That's Dad time, lol. I LOVE YOU DAD!!! #fathersday #canada #hockeydads #ottawa #vancouver #dad #dads #fathers

Happy Pride Month!!! This month is a friendly reminder to ALWAYS: * Speak up and make your voice heard! * Educate yourself on the unknown instead of fear it! * Support one another and your community!... * Base your actions in LOVE Loving comes naturally to human beings and it is easier than Hating. Hate takes more energy and effort than LOVE. ~ So chose to Love and I promise you will feel better~ #loveislove #pride #proud #blacklivesmatter #toronto #canada #ontario #ottawa @ Ottawa, Ontario

Changes in your SLEEP Patterns can DECREASE your TESTOSTERONE Levels! Over 75% of the hormones that repair our muscles and memory are released during our sleep. These hormones also control the release of our TESTOSTERONE during the day. The QUANTITY AND QUALITY of our sleep are KEY in maintaining our Testosterone levels during the day. ... THE SLEEP STAGES Once we fall asleep our body goes through different stages until we enter into DEEP SLEEP; this is where everything happens. This is when we repair and recharge to get ready for the next day. But to get here we have to stay alseep for at least 4 hours... without any interruptions. LIFESTYLE CHANGES THAT HELP FACILITATE SLEEP 1) No caffeine after 2 pm: Caffeine stays in our system for about 8 hours. 2) A Cooler Bedroom: (around 64 C) helps ease the normal changes our body goes through overnight. 3) Blue light filters or "night shift" for devices (phones, tablets, computers): Filters the blue light that DECREASES your natural melatonin levels. SUPPLEMENTS & DIET CHANGES TO HELP SLEEP 1) Alcohol: Avoid any alcohol 2 hours before bed and add 1 glass of water with each drink if you do decide to drink. 2) High Protein Meal before bed: Helps control hunger and balance sugar- cortisol levels. Ex. any meat, nuts, seeds, protein shake or peanut butter. 3) Valerian Root: A herbal supplement that promotes deep sleep. HOW YOUR TESTOSTERONE LEVELS CAN CHANGE DURING THE DAY: The symptoms of LOW energy, DECREASED Stamina and sometimes LOW Libido can result from using up all our testosterone stores before our day is over. It is DIFFERENT then having Low Testosterone. Our testosterone secretion is tightly linked to the stress hormone Cortisol. It is released with our "fight-or-flight" hormone (adrenaline). Chronic stress blunts our cortisol response over time and this can cause our testo...sterone cycle to dip LOWER THEN NORMAL; this usually happens in the early evening for most Men. One of my treatment approaches is to support the organ that releases cortisol so your testosterone cycle doesnt dip too low. This organ is the Adrenal Gland and you have two of them that sit on top of both your kidneys. SUPPLEMENTS FOR ADRENAL SUPPORT B Vitamins: Co- factors for the enzymes in the adrenal glands. Ashwagandha: A plant derived supplement that supports the adrenal gland so it doesnt burn out. Phosphatidylserine (PS): A lipid molecule that balances out cortisol levels in the blood, especially after a hard workout. TAKE THE MALE PERIOD- IRRITABLE MALE SYNDROME SURVEY TO FIND OUT IF THIS COULD BE HAPPENING IN YOU (LINK IN BIO) #naturopathicmedicine #fitness #menshealth #toronto #ontario #ottawa #mensfashion #healthylifestyle PMID:27474909 PMID: 26557670

##MEN: **SHAVING TIPS** Using a razor can be damaging to our skin so here are some tips that I follow when I am doing my shaving routine to ensure good SKINCARE at the same time. 1) I always try and shave after the sauna or a hot shower since this opens the pores in our skin 2) I lubricate my skin to ensure a smooth glide with my razor. **DIY lubricant: Extra Virgin Olive Oil (antimicrobial) + Jojoba Oil (balances skin PH) 3) Shaving cream to moisturize and soften your HAIRS... **DIY Shaving Cream: 1:1 ratio Coconut Oil to Aloe Vera + few drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil. 3) Lastly finish by splashing with cold water which closes your pores. Also, VERY IMPORTANT to avoid all alcohol based Aftershaves!!! Alcohol kills your skin cells; and we dont want that! An alternative is a natural toner with witch hazel which seals any minor cuts naturally or apple cider vinegar. I use my daily moisturizer or shaving balms (made from bees wax) rite after to prevent drying of my skin. #shaving #men #grooming #shavingcream #razor #withthegrain #skincare #DIY #toronto #mensfashion#spa See more

Skincare from Within <> The liver is the organ that is responsible for clearing toxins out of the blood stream. When it isnt working efficiently we can start to see manifestations in our skin in the form of rashes, acne, bumps and itchy spots. In conventional medicine when our liver isnt working properly our skin can turn yellow (referred to as jaundice) because a waste product is not able to be eliminated through the other pathways of elimination: our poop ...and urine. So it backs up in the liver (referred to as liver congestion), spills into the blood stream and erupts in the skin. When I do skincare for my patients I consider all these pathways of elimination. For the liver there are two main phases of detoxification differentiated by different groups of enzymes. Just like any biochemical reaction we want to make sure we are stimulating each phase equally so we dont have a backup or overflow of reactants. For example phase one enzymes are induced by antioxidants such as vitamin A and turmeric and use co- factors like zinc. Phase two enzymes respond well to calcium-d-gluconate, the isothiocynates in broccoli, NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) and use co- factors like selenium. In addition to many other supplements there are a number of liver herbs that promote liver function such as milk thistle. #liverdetox #skincare #menshealth #liver #naturopathicmedicine #healthyliving #detox #ottawa #toronto #beets #supplements @ Ottawa, Ontario

We need to be more mindful about how often we are snacking. Each time we snack our insulin levels spike; this constant insulin peak is not good for our bodies and occurs in the initial stages of diabetes. Our bodies have been hardwired to survive a fast for short periods (hours) in a safe and effective manner.
