Our shelves are designed to provide assistance for someone trying to escape a home through a window designed for this event. But, the most important part of escaping a home in an emergency is having a plan. ... I challenge every person to ask all of your friends with children if they have a family evacuation plan in place. If they don't, encourage them to take 15-30 minutes to make sure every family member knows how to get out of the home and where to meet once they do. And, you should also make sure that you are thinking fire safety and have an escape plan. If you ever have a fire or emergency, you will be glad you did! Copy and paste this on your wall and let's get everyone prepared for an emergency!

Our Shelf The Story: We began this journey many years ago when Shane noticed that the egress window in a child’s basement bedroom was too high for that child to access. That was when he came up with the idea for a shelf that could be converted into a set of steps which could be used to assist someone to get out of an egress window. Shane began working on designing this shelf but kept running into issues with functionality, strength, and complexity of manufacturing. Frustrated..., Shane consulted a former teacher, mentor and fellow inventor, Dave Murphy. Dave immediately saw the importance of this idea and agreed to join with Shane to make this vision a reality. Dave quickly identified the challenges in the design ideas. Dave and Shane brought the concept back to the drawing board and after much thought and discussion came up with the first prototype. This prototype was made of steel, was very strong, and worked very well. But, even though the functionality was excellent, the appearance was not what you would expect to see in a bedroom. So, again it was back to the drawing board where the current design was born. Shane and Dave came up with a design that can fit the decor of any room and will be strong enough to support the people who may need to use it as steps. Now, we are bringing this innovative new product to the people with the hope that every person who has the potential to be trapped in a fire or other danerous situation will be able to escape.
