The owners at Duncan's Ltd would like to issue the following statement in regards to a situation being publicly discussed regarding an employee of ours and their personal communications with other members in our community. We are extremely disheartened and, quite frankly, disgusted by the comments and screenshots we've seen. We are a local, multi-generational business that has been employing Yukoners for over 50 years. We pride ourselves on being a positive, active member of ...the community. Our ownership includes parents of young daughters, so we can absolutely empathize with the reactions of those who have seen the comments and screenshots. The statements made were not made on behalf of Duncan's Ltd, and they do not represent, in any way, shape, or form, our company or its ownership. These statements were made by an individual, personally, outside of their employment, and outside of the capacity of their employment. The vast majority of our company's history in business has been prior to social media existing. As such, this is all new to us. We had originally made a statement several days ago, which was subsequently removed, as the comments stream exploded. We are not experts in this, and to be honest, we have never had a situation like this arise before. We are learning as we go, and trying to address the situation to the best of our abilities. In regards to the individual and their employment - this is a legal Human Resources matter and we will be unable to comment any further on it. We understand that there are many opinions that have been expressed from many different folks. None the less, this is not a matter that we are able to comment further on in the public domain. We appreciate everyone's understanding of that. Finally, we would like to reiterate that Duncan's Ltd and its ownership does NOT agree, condone or support any of the comments that were made. We would like to thank everyone who brought this situation to our attention. Without the engagement of the local community, we would never have known about this and would not be able to address it.

Big day here at Duncan’s Ltd. Today the fourth generation of Duncans started work. Emma Duncan will be helping out part time this summer. We just had Great Granda Duncan come give her approval and wish Emma luck. We are all sure Des would be proud of what he started 51 years ago.
