Eric M. Haldenby was an accomplished Toronto architect responsible for the design of many Toronto landmarks such as the David Dunlap Observatory and 48th Highlanders Monument in Queen's Park. Haldenby served in the First and Second World Wars, being appointed to Honorary Colonel of the 48th Highlanders of Canada in 1963. Haldenby passed away in 1971 and now rests at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
