#Wintersolstice is approaching!.. that means more sunny days ahead! It's always important to protect your eyes from UV, even in the winter. The low angle of the sun means that UV radiation is directed straight into the eye. UV exposure is also higher on snowy days on the hill. Don't forget those sunnies!! Come check out our new #mauijimsunglasses #eyecare #eyeprotection #eyedoctor #sunglasses #northvan

A new way of looking at an object that symbolizes the times we are living in: with a little perspective, a mask turns into a fun ski slope. #optics #vision #optometrist #northshore

It's been nearly 3 months since we've resumed operations and our entire team is incredibly grateful to the community for your continued support and understanding! We're taking every precaution available to us to keep you safe. This is why everyone on our team is required to wear a mask and we also require any visitors to our clinic to wear one too. During an eye exam or glasses adjustment, our team members are often required to have close contact for prolonged periods of tim...e. And since COVID-19 is most commonly transmitted through the air, masks are the best known way we can help keep both our customers and our team safe! We currently have exam appointments available as soon as the first week of September. If you're looking for glasses, we recommend calling ahead to arrange a time for a consultation with an optician!

We're pleased to announce that beginning Tuesday, May 19th we will be dropping the "urgent care only" mandate and will once again be providing routine eye exams. We'll be limiting the number of patients, staff and doctors allowed in our clinic at any given time, but to compensate for this, we'll be offering evening appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. To help ensure the health and safety of our patients and our team, our clinic will be undergoing vigorou...s sanitation after the use of any instrument, and all exams will be performed using patient protective equipment. Anybody wanting an eye exam will be subject to additional health screening measures and will be required to wear a mask. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. We're currently working through our backlog of patients who requested an exam during our off period. If you're one of these people and you haven't heard from us yet, we will be in touch soon! For anyone else looking to book an exam or shop for glasses, our hours will be: Mon, Fri: 8:30am - 5:15pm Tue, Wed, Thu: 8:00am - 8:00pm Sat: 9:00am - 4:00pm We thank everyone for their patience and understanding these last few weeks. We're looking forward to returning to work and serving our community once again! #optometry #optometrist #eyecare #yvr #northvancouver #northvancouveroptometrist #northvan #eyedoctor #eyedoctors #healthcare #eyeexam

Are you concerned about contact lens wear and the coronavirus? Here's what you need to know: 1.) There is currently no scientific evidence that contact lens wearers have an increased risk of contracting COVID-19 compared with glasses wearers. 2.) Thorough handwashing and drying are essential, as well as properly wearing and caring for contact lenses. 3.) No scientific evidence supports rumors that everyday glasses offer protection against COVID-19.... 4.) Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes with unwashed hands. 5.) Contact lens wearers who are ill should temporarily revert to wearing glasses Thank you to the Centre for Ocular Research & Education for the production of this video. In light of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we've made the difficult decision to operate at a reduced capacity until Wednesday, April 1st. The clinic will be closed entirely from March 19th - March 22nd so that our team may adjust to these changes. Beginning March 23rd - March 31st, we'll be open 9am - 4pm facilitating contact lens orders, as well as the pickup of glasses, contacts and therapeutics. During this period, we will only be offering urgent car...e services and will not be performing any routine eye exams. Beginning April 1st, we will start accepting routine eye exam bookings only for patients in a low risk demographic. Going forward, all visitors to our clinic will be subject to screening measures. We will again be available by phone or email as of Monday, March 23rd. Our website and social media feeds will also be reliable places to stay up to date with the latest developments. We thank you for your understanding during this trying time. See more

Per the BC Centre for Disease Control, The risk of spread of this virus in B.C. communities remains low at this time. However, we are still taking many standard precautions. Our office disinfects surface areas every single day, ophthalmic instruments after each use and frames after each patient demo, but we all must do our part to prevent the spread of disease. In light of the COVID-19 virus, we ask that you please be considerate of those in the population that are at high ...risk for infection. Please reschedule your eye exam or visit to our office if you have: Fever, and/or new onset of cough or difficulty breathing and any of the following: Travel to a COVID-19 impacted area in the 14 days before the onset of illness. Close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19. You have been in close contact with a person with acute respiratory illness who has been to a COVID-19 impacted area. We will continue to monitor advisories from local health authorities and will take appropriate measures as needed. We thank everyone for your support and cooperation! Keep washing those hands!
