Happy 2021! We start every morning with a smile and a meeting to make sure our day runs smoothly for ourselves and our patients.

It’s a strange time right now and the stress can be more tolling than we think. Everyday I lean on my team and together, to the same beat, we care for our patients. One of the many things I am grateful for. #gratitude

Checking my own privilege, my own biases, my own complacency. Doing the work for anti-racism.

We just received our guidelines from our regulatory body and can now begin to plan how to safely resume services. This does not mean we are back to business on the 19th. Think of it as the beginning of a transition. Allow us some time to organize and develop protocols to ensure the safety of all of us and all of you. Some of you have already reached out with specific dental concerns. Know that you are top of mind and we will reach out to set up an appointment with you as soon as we can. As always, we are here to offer our support in cases of emergency and urgent care. We welcome your calls and emails and can’t wait to see you again.

What a breath of fresh air this place is, especially in the rain. The Dunbar community is so lucky to have Pacific Spirit Park close by.

Just did this workout video provided by Rey and May from Westside Kickboxing, where I have been training for the last 3 years. For those of you who I've talked to about this gym, give the video a try to get a taste of why it never fails to make me laugh, sweat, focus and forget about all my worries for one sweet hour. During this time of social distancing and uncertainty, I am reminded by some familiar faces of the community and friends that I still have, and that we are all in it together. Enjoy and maybe I will see you at the gym when this is all over!

I know self-isolation and social distancing can be hard. For me, it helps to stay active. Here's a little video from my pilates instructor, Johanna, a local business owner in Vancouver. Both my husband and I have been going to classes at her studio, Union Pilates for more than a year now and there is never a time that we don't feel good after her class. I find the meditative breathing, spinal mobility, core strengthening and stretching makes my body feel great and I am so appreciative that she has put some of her classes online to help her community keep moving during a time in which isolation and distancing is so important. Today I tuned into her live class on IG, check out the video below to see what her classes are like.

As a Respirologist, this is a plea for everyone to cancel every non-essential plan. No children's play dates. Keep older kids home as well. No dinner parties. N...othing non-essential. We are currently on the same trajectory as China, Iran, Spain, and the US. We have the ability to turn it into the trajectory of Hong Kong or Singapore. Even with the best case scenario, we're going to lose a lot of people before their time. Even the best case scenario now is one of our nation's greatest tragedies and the worst case scenario for Canada is frankly terrifying. Anything we do now won't show effect for 1 to 2 weeks. I don't think we're doing enough currently in the form of social distancing. Please, do your part. Stay home unless absolutely necessary. No visitors unless absolutely necessary. Learn from Singapore. We have the power to save lives but the message has to be stronger.
