We have found a remarkable new eco-friendly product our families can purchase through an online store created just for our school. Tru Earth Eco-Strips are the smartest way to clean laundry, period. They are ultra-concentrated, hypoallergenic, and eco-friendly; just one strip will power through dirt and grime in all types of washing machines, including high-efficiency (HE). Our school earns a 20% profit on every purchase we make through our online store for the entire school... year. Prices start as low as $12.95. Visit our online store at URL https://fundraising.tru.earth/dunnvillechristianschool. All products purchased ship directly to the purchaser, with no shipping charges. The campaign remains open until the end of the school year, so you can place orders at your convenience and replenish your stock as needed while supporting our cause. *Please note: on Subscription purchases, profit is not earned on the follow-up orders because there is no way for the company to securely associate the purchasers' credit card information both with purchaser and the school. Tru Earth often runs sales on their website. We get the same discounts as anyone who purchases on the Tru Earth website directly!

T.R.I.P stands for Tuition Reduction Incentive Program. We sell gift cards that will help families save on the cost of tuition. The cards being sold range from grocery stores and retailers, to your favourite restaurants. When you purchase a gift card, a percentage of the cost gets translated into tuition credit. Percentages range from 1%-8% depending on the gift card. Don’t have children attending DCS? You can help other families by participating in this program and donating ...your credits to the Tuition Assistance Fund. Do you have children/grandchildren that may be attending in the future? Your credits can be banked for upcoming years. Any purchases made during the year (June 1- May 31), need to be handed in to our Bookkeeper before August 31 and will be banked for you or the designated family. We encourage you to keep records of this amount as well. We encourage you to spread the word about this program to families who may be interested in Christian education at DCS. For a complete list of all gift cards available, go to this link on our Home page of the DCS website: https://www.dunnvillechristianschool.ca//order_sheet_2019. Thank you JK students for this reminder. We are grateful that God loves us.
Last week, the grade 1 students learned about reptiles. At the end of the week, everyone made a paper chain snake which they named. Then each student presented with their snake to show what they had learned about reptiles.
On Tuesday, the Grade 1 class celebrated 100 Day. We had fun dressing up as if we were 100 years old and every student presented a 100 Day project. There were lots of creative ideas! Great job everyone! Students also completed a writing assignment where they had to think about what they would be doing when they are 100. Ideas varied from building Lego with their grandkids, baking for their grandkids, watching birds in the park, reading, napping, watching TV, gardening and knitting.
We are enjoying the art work the students are providing to make the hallways at DCS so colourful, as we welcome them back in the classroom. We enjoy seeing your work, your words of encouragement, how you are enjoying winter, what jobs you would like to do when you grow up, and so much more.
DCS students learning from home is scheduled to end tomorrow, with the return to classes on February 8. We are grateful to all who made it possible and are thankful for the hard work of the students and parents alike. See you Monday!
We are looking ahead to the 2021-2022 school year at Dunnville Christian School. Currently, our JK program is 2 days a week with our SK program 3 days a week. Additional days are offered at $1500 per extra day of the week. The scheduled days for next year will depend on the number of students that are enrolled in both our JK and SK programs. Due to this year’s circumstances, we will not be hosting a Kindergarten Open House. If you are interested in having your child/ren attend DCS, or know of others interested, please contact us at [email protected] or [email protected].
In December, the Grade 5/6 art class participated in "Take a Line for a Walk". Mrs. Kimberly Rowaan instructed them to have a sheet of paper on their desk, close their eyes, and draw a continuous line on their paper. Once done, they were then to find creative ways to make a picture out of this. It is fun to see the various and unique pictures that came out of the students work.
Over the past few weeks, Gr. 4/5 have been learning about the Haudenosaunee nation in their Indigenous Studies class. They learned about wampum beads; how they were made from shells and woven into designs on belts. The students then designed and wove their own version of a wampum belt. The results of their creativity were fantastic!

Do you have any mugs where the handle has broken off or a bowl that has a chip in it? We will take them off your hands! Grade 7/8 is looking for old ceramics (bowls, mugs, plates) that we could use for our mosaic project. We are planning to do this on Friday. If you are able to help out, please drop the items off at the school by Thursday night, or let Hannah VanderWier know and she'll come to pick them up.
The signup sheet on https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050d49a5ad2da7fd0-bazaar been updated with a few new spots where volunteers are needed this week as the committee finishes prepping for pickup day. A reminder that all Fish Fry orders must be placed by October 16! Please contact Nelly Deklerk or Justine DeVries.
The staff and students of DCS would like to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving! Last week, classes spent time thinking about all of the many blessings the Lord has given to us. They put these ideas into cards, journals and writing pages and represented them in various arts and crafts to share with family and friends. We pray that you too have been able to take time this weekend to "Praise God from whom all blessings flow."
This year our Chapel is looking a bit different. Each Wednesday, Mrs. VanHuizen hosts Chapel in her classroom and it is streamed via Zoom to the other classes in the school. We celebrate the gifts of technology that make it possible for us to still spend time in worship together every week. Praise God for the continued blessings we experience here at DCS.
Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for? We should always take the opportunity to give thanks to God for His blessings to us. DCS students are being encouraged to bring in food items so that others can be blessed by our abundance. We hope to have much food to bring to the Salvation Army on Friday.
October 5th was National Teacher's Appreciation Day and we definitely appreciate our teachers! Although the pictures may look like fun and games (and a lot of baking), that's because DCS's teachers make it look easy. When in reality, teachers not only spend their days teaching, helping, and caring for their students, but their nights and Saturdays prepping, creating, and preparing for the next week. Our teachers give it their all to help every student succeed and be their best, all while having a blast. DCS truly has the best teachers!!
Once again, we are offering a Fish Fry dinner. Scheduled to take place the same day as the DCS Fall Market (Bazaar), on October 24, 2020. Please place your pre-order, NOW, directly to Nelly DeKlerk or Justine DeVries (see poster for contact information). Thank you to all who supported our event in August! Over 200 dinners were prepared that date.
BAZAAR NEWS: We are anxiously waiting to receive your orders for the Fall Fundraiser. By now you should have received an email copy, as well as paper copies to hand out to family and friends! If you have not received any forms or you would like to place an order please contact [email protected]. ... Deadline to place your order is OCTOBER 7.
Is anyone an expert in mosaics that could give me some pointers or ideas on how to do this effectively with my students? We are studying ancient Rome and I would love to do a mosaic project with my students. I have used bits of paper in the past but would like to try a different material (stones/tiles/paint chips?). Please let me know if you have any ideas or know where I could get materials for this. Thank you!
