This Friday begins a different kind of storytelling! The Town of Ajax and the Ajax Seniors Centre are presenting a series of events for their program called Senior Centres Without Walls. Kathleen Smyth begins these storytelling sessions with an Irish folktale (The Crofter and The Selkie), fairytale (Michael and The Fairies) and song (When Irish Eyes Are Smiling) ...on Friday, July 3. Enid DeCoe will tell a story (The Inkeeper's Wise Daughter) and folktale (The Quilter's Gift) on Friday, July 17. Daniel Healy will recite a Wordsworth poem (To A Daffodill) and a Yeats poem (Easter, 1916), personal story (Raising Tadpoles) and song (The Pub with No Beer) on Friday, July 31. Also, we are currently arranging tellers for additional Friday storytelling sessions on August 7 and August 21. Durham Storytellers are excited to be part of these Ajax Seniors events!

Since our regular monthly storytelling gatherings are on hold, we want to stay connected by posting stories from our Durham Storytellers. Our 5th tale is one of our favourites told by Enid DeCoe. It is a cautionary folktale called Magic Eyes. Enid tells with dramatic flair and wonderful expression. Most of her stories are fairy tales and folktales, but she has lots of other stories, that she loves to tell.... All recordings produced by Heather Whaley for Durham Storytellers.
