The MacuHealth supplements have been proven to be more effective than the traditional ocular vitamins. MacuHealth improves visual performance by reducing glare and by improving contrast sensitivity. By maximizing the amount of macular pigment in healthy eyes, MacuHealth can lower your risk for age-related macular degeneration. Did you know children should have their first eye exam at 6 months of age! The doctor is not going to ask them "which is clearer, 1 or 2?", but will make sure that the eyes are in perfect alignment, that the pupils are working properly, that there are no disorders at the back of the eye, and that there is no significant asymmetry. The doctor will make sure that the child has the normal eyesight for that particular age. If one eye is weaker than the other and it goes missed, t...he child can develop amblyopia (can never achieve 20/20) or an eye turn (lazy eye). The younger the child is, the easier it is to tackle these issues. Routine eye exams are important so that the doctor can ensure your child is achieving the right developmental milestones. #myopiacontrol #Hoyalenses #hoyacanada #Miyosmart #myopiaprogression #slowdownmyopia #durhamvisioncare

Outdoor activities such as hiking, walking, cycling, skiing, swimming, etc help improve your eye health too. As we mentioned before, some studies show that sunlight can slow down the progression of myopia. The recommended amount of activity is 76 minutes per day! We do recommend sunglasses when you're outside to protect your eyes from the UV, but try to get out there no matter what season it is. #myopiacontrol #Hoyalenses #hoyacanada #Miyosmart #myopiaprogression #slowdownmyopia #durhamvisioncare

This one is obvious - you have to protect your eyes! This is especially important for adults who work in places where there can be metal or dirt foreign bodies. Did you know a metal foreign body can rust your cornea? If you suspect a metal object has flown in to your eye, see your optometrist right away so the rust can be removed before spreading. Protecting your eyes is even more important when you have a lazy eye/amblyopia. Every day glasses can help protect your "good" eye from any damage from flying objects. You never know what can be coming your way! #myopiacontrol #Hoyalenses #hoyacanada #Miyosmart #myopiaprogression #slowdownmyopia #durhamvisioncare

It has been one year since we saw our first patient! Although we were very nervous to open our doors a year ago today, we were filled with excitement! It has been amazing to see the practice grow and we have met a lot of great people during this time. We want to thank all of our supporters, patients, suppliers, friends and family involved. We couldn’t have done it without you! Although the COVID-19 situation prevents us from celebrating together today, we are glad that everyone is doing their part and staying home to get through this faster. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy during this time. See you soon!!
