Update in regards to the possible covid exposure: RCA's lead physician, Dr. Mike Wilkinson, has complemented the Club on the procedures we followed after heari...ng about a member of a rower's family contracting the virus. RCA has not asked us to close the club but they have underscored the importance of maintaining physical distancing, wearing a mask when indoors, washing all equipment thoroughly, continue to log-in and log-out so tracing can be done if necessary and immediately report any symptoms to Niagara Regional Health. Our incident, while quickly and properly managed, is proof that the virus is still out there and that we need to continue all possible safety precautions!

UPDATE!! As of Monday, July 13, 2020 we will be inviting more members to register and row. These are for experienced competitive and recreational scullers. What does this mean? You must have experience and comfort rowing in singles and doubles. To row in a double you MUST be living in the same household OR in each other’s social bubble. ALL of the strict COVID SOPs are still in place.... If you have any questions please email the club: [email protected]

We are extremely saddened to share an article reporting a fatal accident with a rower and PWC on the weekend. What a terrible tragedy. Although the rower was no...t from Hatchets, we knew him and and have coached him on occasion in his own boat. Our condolences go out to his family and friends, we were so upset to hear this news. The rower was out on lake Muskoka on Sunday afternoon and was struck by a PWC. Please please while you are out boating, swimming, rowing, canoeing, kayaking, rowing or anything be aware of the risks, watch for boats, assume no one can see you, wear bright clothing and whenever possible stay close to shore and look into the best options for life jackets to keep you safe. https://www.muskokaregion.com//10058870-man-killed-on-lak/ See more

The Durham Rowing Club is sad to announce the passing of long time board member and boatman Gordon Smith. Gordon passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on June 7, 2020. The boathouse will just not be the same without his love for wooden shells, keeping our fleet in fantastic shape, or his over 23 years of dedication to our club. Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough for everything that you have done for the DRC....
