Dear DVSS Community: More than 2 individuals within our school community have tested positive for the COVID virus. Yesterday, an email was sent to parents, one for students that were close contacts and one for students that were not close contacts. ... Due to the impact on our students and the number of staff that will be asked to self-isolate, DVSS will be temporarily shifting to at-home learning, for ALL STUDENTS beginning Monday, November 23, 2020. This means the school will not be physically open for the next two weeks. This is a temporary measure and in-person learning at DVSS will resume on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 when we plan to re-open the building. Teachers will contact students by email on Monday, November 23, 2020 to begin at-home learning. We will focus on core subjects only and teachers will be available for students during regularly scheduled class times. For Junior High students this will include all scheduled - English, Social, Math, Science, Health, and Reading classes. For Senior High Students this will include all scheduled - English, Social, Math, Science, and CALM classes. All students should already have email set up on their devices as well as access to all course content through Google Classroom. Prior to returning to school on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, a complete deep cleaning and sanitizing of the school will take place. Thank you for your patience and support. https://www.drumvss.ca/view.php

Student Council would still like to bring some holiday cheer to DVSS families in need by continuing our annual Christmas Food Drive. This year we will be asking DVSS families and the community to help us "Stuff the Classroom" with food drive donations. If you are able to, please consider donating any of the items on the poster attached below. Items can be dropped off in the red bin just inside the front entrance of the school between Dec 8th and 17th. We are also accepting monetary donations to buy food items. Monetary donations can be dropped off directly in the lock box in the office or through school cash online. Donors will also have the chance to win a prize with each donation made. Thank you and Happy Holidays!
