Soundcheck @ The Fairmont Empress Hotel Ballroom Victoria BC. And to think only four months ago when I hurt myself with right arm/elbow tendinitis I wasn’t sure... if I would ever play again never mind get back to my intensive high game level. But I did and there I was. Thank God! Still some more healing to do but last night was definitely a proud personal comeback. The whole evening I felt like the luckiest piano player in world! Lol. Hello I’m back! Yours truly performing my favourite gospel song of all time. The classic Where The Streets Have No Name by U2. After spending the last two ...months healing, growing & reconnecting with myself personally & spiritually, I felt this piece was appropriate. This is the sound of church to me. I hope you like this arrangement & performance. Took awhile to figure out how to emulate this iconic rock song never mind The Edge’s unique & one of a kind guitar delay techniques. In the end I’ve learned it’s always the same. Just honour the song’s structure, the vocal melody, (or any other memorable music riffs) then dare to transcend the song into to your own. Also apply your own personal style & uniqueness & then play it with ALL your heart & soul! This piece has a lot of drama! I hope you enjoy. Thank you all again & I miss you very much! May 15th 2020. A message from Dwaine - DKA Piano Man Dear fb friends & piano lovers... As we enter our second season into this unprecedented pandemic, I just want to wish you all well, good health & express my great gratitude. ... I want to thank EVERYONE OF YOU for your love & support with all my videos & piano performances over the last few years. From my private & public events, to the RJH Atrium experience, the Broadmead Lodge, The Victoria Hospital Foundation Vision Team & everybody else who has messaged me & come up to hug me & share their heartwarming kind words. I just want to say it’s YOU that inspires & drives me to do what I love best! Thank you! I had big new live career plans for 2020 but now, like every other musician & artists around the globe, I simply wait & pray for the day to be able to perform live again for you. Loud Cocktail Hour Ballroom Lounge Madness DKA Plano Man having fun with David Bowie’s pianist Mike Garson’s version of Life On Mars My first set was a glori...ous recognition tribute with a first song introduction spotlight where I had the full attention of the ballroom complete with entrance & song ending applause. It was the moment that I had been waiting for. Then when dinner started, I slowly slipped into background lounge dinner pianist mode with residue applause as expected. An hour later my second set was during cocktail hour so I was total background lounge piano man to a very loud mingling audience. It was perfect! All the pressure was gone so I just started to relax, got hooked up with my own personal bartender & had some fun, rocked it hard & really sweat it out in my suit. I felt one part classical pianist gentlemen & one part sweaty rock n roll Jerry Lee Lewis. Lol. It was a good performance I’m proud of. Took me a good year to develop a confident relationship with this arrangement. See more
