Check out this alleyway mural launch happening this weekend! We love seeing alleyway beautification. It tells the neighbourhood that our alleys are infrastructure that is cared for, that can enrich the neighbourhood. Thank you Brain Injury Association of Windsor & Essex... #goodplacetogrowup #goodplacetogrowold
In light of the mega hospital conversation, check out https://www.windsormegahospital.com The Best Site: The Downtown Vision The Windsor Design Collaborative is a group of architectural designers, urban planners and impassioned supporters from across Windsor. Their main objective is to encourage the public to use their voice in helping move forward with the future of this city. ... Combining our skills in architectural design, rendering and new 3D technologies from Silicon Valley, our design collaboration promises to empower Windsorites by giving them the tools to design their city by democratizing the architectural design process. Giving Winsorites the freedom and know-how to weigh-in on its most pressing civic issues, like the highly controversial Mega Hospital. Windsor has much to lose with the consequences of urban sprawl that will gut businesses from our downtown core, the historic Sandwich district, and what's left of Ottawa street, a street full of small businesses bustling with personality and charm. While cities around the world are building their cores, The City of Windsor is moving backwards, praying for the promise of endless development and expansion into nowhere, creating isolated communities that are only accessible by cars, with an inadequate transit service that takes hours to get anywhere. -https://buff.ly/2UjsLdu
It’s the holiday market in the Pelissier St parking garage put on by the Downtown Windsor Farmers Market!
Almost two years ago, we flew Tim Fletcher of RE ACT and Finding Freedom to Windsor to help our city shift to a trauma informed way of viewing the challenges of our city. It was a two day event that brought 175 people together from across a variety of sectors to learn about addictions and complex trauma, and the recovery that is possible when we deal with that root trauma. There was a hum in the room as we broke into learning labs for conversation beyond our silos. That hum led to a desire to bring the 90 day RE ACT program to Windsor, and just last month, that dream finally actualized by REACT Windsor #throwbackThursday
Today we're celebrating our former community development coordinator Sarah Cipkar. She's a neighbour, an advocate, a listening ear, and a champion of downtown, and she's started her own development company. She just completed her first alleyway home! www.cipkar.ca
In light of the Absolutely Canadian feature on local graffiti artists, check out this beauty by DERKZ on University between Pelissier and Victoria. There's so much beauty in our downtown, and our local artists are bringing that beauty to the forefront. Share something beautiful today. https://buff.ly/3ejp9l6
