Note from DWDC: There are safeguards in place to ensure a person's eligibility for MAID, including that two assessments be done, that the patient make a formal, written request, that the intolerable suffering of the person be documented (ideally in the patient's own words), and an exploration of the request for MAID be conducted to determine if it is a longstanding wish or an impulsive decision.
