Do you have floor space in your pantry? Don’t let this area become a drop zone for random items; instead, make use of this space by creating zones for things that may take up valuable space on shelves. This pantry floor was perfect for storing items like drinks, extra bathroom tissue, and a recycling station. Maximizing your space by categorizing and designating specific areas for things will help with the overall maintenance of your organizational system. Need help creating a long term system to help stay organized? Let’s chat! Consultations are free! @ Kelowna, British Columbia

Lego storage....it’s a controversial subject...do you sort by colour, by size, in separate bins or all together? We keep it simple in our house and keep most of our Lego in one bin with the exception of themed Lego building kits. What’s your go-to Lego storage method?

This message made my day! I helped this lovely client regain order in her kitchen with a more functional pantry that suited their needs and lifestyle. I love that the whole family was excited about the changes in this space and that the kids were even inspired to make their own lunches! Sounds like a win to me!

This front entry closet has been dysfunctional in our home for a LONG time, and it’s never worked well for the needs of my family. We have a lot of shoes, the top shelf was too high for the kids to access, making the floor a dumping ground for hats, mitts, and random stuff. Backpacks were always left outside the door of the closet because the shoes took up all the space and we lacked shelving. So why did it take me so long to finally make a change in this space? Well, life... is busy, I didn’t make it a prioritythere’s always something that needs attention when maintaining a house, but it drove me crazy EVERY...SINGLE...DAY! So, I decided to make it a priority and it was worth every penny! Now, I know it’s just a closet, but making a change in this tiny space in our home has been a game changer. I work with clients everyday in creating systems that can be easily maintained and I finally made ours work. Sometimes it takes creating new architecture in the space to complement organization. Whether it be with shelving, rods, hooks, bins or baskets. It’s about creating the structure within the organizational system that provides long term success in maintenance. A big thank you to @urbanclosets for bringing my vision in this space to life. My family agrees that it has made the world of difference, and the best part...they are eager to keep it looking neat. Do you have a space that could use some help? My advice? Don’t waitif it’s driving you crazy today, it likely will, until you do something to change it. Stay tuned for a closer look inside tomorrow!

When you have curved walls and a narrow hall closet where shelving isn’t possible, where do you store your vacuum, vacuum parts and yoga mats so they are accessible? In a multipurpose space, sometimes you have to think outside the box. We used a tall basket to store yoga mats and foam rollers, and installed wall mounted acrylic bins for smaller items on the wall. This helps to keep like items together without cluttering up the floor. The vacuum was mounted on the opposite side of the closet, making it easy to access. @ Kelowna, British Columbia

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays friends! I’ll be taking some time off this season to rest, play, and enjoy the little things that I tend to overlook more often than I care to admit. Thank you for following me, and supporting small business. I look forward to sharing more organizing tips and inspiration with you in the New Year. Whatever your plans this holiday season, may they be joyful, fun and full of love.

Traditions. When the kids were little, I made Christmas stockings for them from felt, and thought it would be fun to have them add to their stockings every year to represent their interests, or what was important to them. I started my son’s stocking with a school bus when he entered kindergarten. Since then, they have each told their story through the years. I’ll see how long we can keep this tradition going, I suspect this year’s stockings might include something like or this. Do you have a fun family tradition around the holidays?

One of my favourite ways to store gift wrap is with this over the door organizer. Don’t have a door? No problem, it can also be mounted on the wall! Rolls of wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper and ribbon all contained together. The top shelf of this closet was also the ideal place to store gift boxes and holiday cards. It’s a one stop gift wrap zone! Could you use this system in your home?

It’s almost the weekend, and the last day of school before the holidays....how’s it hanging? For many, organizing the garage can feel overwhelming because it’s often a multipurpose space that is always in flux and can quickly become a catch all for a myriad of things. For me, it’s truly one of my favourite spaces to organize. I’m so happy I got my client’s garage organized before winter hit. Hanging sports and recreational equipment creates open floor space, while creating an organizational system that is easy to maintain for the whole family. Are you making efficient use of your garage space? It’s never too early to start planning your spring garage makeover! @ Kelowna, British Columbia

Planning on family game nights over the holidays? These zipper pouches are a great way to keep game pieces together without the big game boxes. This system is not only a space saver, but also makes it easy to grab and go when heading out to the hill for a weekend as an apres ski activity with the kids.

In the words of Rachel Hollis, Girl wash your face. Face towels, make up removing cloths and wipes all in one place. Have you heard that going to bed with makeup can age your skin up to 7 times faster? Here’s your friendly reminder: Girl, just wash your face!
