Continuing on from my last post... Here's a fun fact!

Lets look at feet! We have a lot of bones that are shaped similar to the hand. However we do have 7 unique to the foot. These help give form to the ankle, heel and midsection of the foot. They are also partially responsible for creating our arches. The arches act as a spring when weight is applied. This means they give support to the foot to carry the rest of the body and allowing proper weight distribution. Ideally the weight is split 40% to the ball of the feet/60% to the h...eel. Within the foot we also have a multitude of small intricate muscles. They play a role in generating movement of the foot and fine motor skills such as picking something up with your toes. At anytime, if these components are not performing the way they are made to, dysfunction can be created. This could look like foot pain, structural changes to the foot or even pain elsewhere in the body.

Over the next few weeks I will be uploading content about thai massage and different areas of the body. This way we can look at specific areas and a few common problems associated with them. Accompanied by demos of a more focused treatment. Stay tuned, first up will be the feet! Then we will gradually move up the body until we reach the neck and head :)... As always, if you have any questions, or would like to book a session let me know!

For those that have been curious about a Thai Massage session: This is a mini sampling! In my last post I discussed how the beginning can be used as a sort of assessment. You can see this from the handful of the techniques used in the video. One of the biggest factors here is to consider how much movement there is being created in the body. For example if you're tense, there may be less movement, as your body fights for control.

While in Greece we spent the first day talking about the beginning of a Thai session. This is the initial stage of connection - with the client, with our breath, with our inner self. Doing this gives us space to become fully present in the moment, allowing the therapist to let go of any unnecessary thoughts or emotions and focus solely on you. The beginning of a sequence can be used to help introduce the therapist's touch to the receiver especially for those unfamiliar with ...Thai Massage and compassionate touch. It also gives the practitioner the initial opportunity to assess your body. Looking for any tension or points of discomfort, at the amount of movement available and even the quality of mobility. With this it allows you (the receiver) to tune into your own body as well. Giving you the chance to notice similar things.

Thai Massage! What is it? First let us look at what Thai Massage is NOT.... ... It’s not a massage that uses oils. It's not a massage done on a table. It's not digging into the body as fast and hard as possible. It's also not a type of sexual massage. What it is, however, is an ancient eastern healing technique with roots in Thailand, as well as Ayurvedic influences. It is also sometimes referred to as a Sacred Dance. It's about connecting and allowing yourself to be vulnerable. Trusting that it’s safe to let go of whatever is blocking you at this time. Performed on a mat while on the floor Thai Massage is done fully clothed (preferably loose/comfortable clothing). We use combinations of compressions, stretching, movement and joint manipulation to work the underlying soft tissue.
