This weekend, Dynacare was joined by Laura Syron, President and CEO of Diabetes Canada; Dr. Naveed Mohammad, President and CEO of William Osler Health System; Brampton South MP Sonia Sidhu and Mayor Patrick Brown of the City of Brampton to announce the upcoming launch of #Dynacare4Diabetes in Brampton, Ont. Following three consecutive years of success in Manitoba, the #Dynacare4Diabetes wellness initiative will be coming to Brampton in spring 2021 to help raise awareness of t...he risk factors for type 2 diabetes as well as encourage Bramptonians to talk to their doctor and, if recommended, get screened using an A1C (blood sugar) test. For each A1C test taken at a Dynacare location in Brampton during the campaign period, Dynacare will donate 50 cents to Diabetes Canada, up to a maximum of $25,000. More details coming soon. November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and as part of our #Dynacare4Diabetes wellness initiative with Diabetes Canada: Manitoba, we’re raising awareness about the risk factors for type 2 diabetes as well as the impacts on those living with this all-too-common disease. For individuals living with diabetes, maintaining a healthy diet plays an important role in managing the disease. This includes limiting portion sizes and sugars, eating plenty of vegetables and avoiding highly processed foods. Most importantly, though, it means consulting your doctor before making any changes to your meal plan. October is Women’s History Month in Canada, and each week we’re marking this important occasion by honouring outstanding Canadian women who embody the values that inspire us. Women like Dr. Irma Le Vasseur (1877-1964), the first French-Canadian woman to practice medicine in Canada. A pioneer in pediatric medicine, Dr. Le Vasseur demonstrated incredible compassion throughout her life, helping to found multiple children’s hospitals as well as a school for children with disabilities.
