This was fun! Ajax, Ontario, is the birthplace of the founder of Chiropractic, Daniel David Palmer. Dr. J helped commemorate that with the unveiling of this plaque, with Mayor Collier, the Town Council and the Heritage Committee, at Audley Recreation Centre today, today on the 125th Anniversary of the first Chiropractic adjustment.

What does an infant #ChiropracticAdjustment consist of? First things first! There is absolutely NO "twisting", "popping", or "cracking" of baby's spine and it is the most gentle adjustment out there! ... A baby adjustment is very specific as well - with light pressure, the doc holds his or her fingertip until there is a release felt from within the joint or tissues. It's almost like testing the ripeness of a tomato! Sometimes, baby can be colicky or not having such a good day and needs to be rocked or bounced - that's okay, because the doc does what baby needs to make sure he or she is comfortable! And because the adjustment is so specific, bouncing and rocking are totally doable! Just like adults and older kiddos, sometimes baby can be very tense and laying down is just not comfy! In this case, the doc will use a small, hand-held tool called an Activator. This tool is designed to deliver an extremely gentle tap to a specific location on the body. And as always, we walk parents through every procedure that is happening to baby and make sure to answer any questions and receive approval before the adjustment and treatment are performed. Hello! Im Dr. Jeremy Barchman, or simply Dr. J. Dr. Holly is my beautiful & brilliant wife, and together we founded DBC in the fall of 2008. I was raised in Davenport, Iowa. I still have a lot of pride in being from the Midwest, home of the best people! (Its not ALL pigs and corn!) My undergrad degree from Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!) is in Genetics & Zoology. ... Just before I started at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, I was introduced to the woman who would eventually become Dr. Holly. We had most of our classes together, and worked together as associates at a clinic in Wisconsin, before moving to Ontario to make a home and start DBC. I love what I do, and have known that I wanted to be a chiropractor since I was a kid. Since the time that I learned about the role of chiropractic care and the nervous system in gaining and maintaining overall health, I never really considered any other path. Outside of DBC, Im still a big nerd, and Im cool with that. I love music of many genres. Ive tried to like country, but couldnt. On my drive to work, I usually listen to audiobooks or podcasts. I like to work with my hands, and I always have a few projects started around our house. Snowboarding is my favourite sport, I really enjoyed surfing in Costa Rica, and I enjoy most outdoor activities. I dont watch TV much, but do like to keep up on sports, and will watch a game from time to time. I started working at 14, and have held at least one job ever since. I played house league baseball, and some soccer in college. Ive never played hockey, and anyone whos seen me on skates can tell you why. Our three boys are our life outside of work. We homeschool, and love to travel and experience new places. They eat a LOT, break things, are loud, and we wouldnt change that for the world. At DBC, we have the best team Ive been a part of anywhere, and we all truly love coming to work. We feel honoured & privileged to do what we do, and hope that you feel that. Hey everyone, my name is Jennah! I was born in Ajax and lived in Whitby until around 11 years old, at which point my family and I moved back to the growing community that is Ajax today, and Ive been here ever since! My favourite thing in the world are animals, I love dogs more than anything, with hammerhead sharks coming at a close second. I have a 13 year old Alaskan malamute named Max who is my absolute best friend. ... One thing I love about being brought on to this team is that Ive learned how chiropractic care can be used to help so many people in so many ways, and how individuals can take ownership in bettering their overall health. The DBC family really spreads that message! In my down time I love to go on adventures outside, like nature hikes and going cottaging, and its awesome when I get to bring dogs along!
